It'll be on in most of the bars on the Kao Sarn Road. They are footy mad. We watched the qualifiers on one of the islands.

about 3 in the morning though I think for KO.

cheers thanks for that - have noted it down for when we land. You confused me by mentioning islands - unless that place you mentioned isnt bangkok? regardless, will be trying all voer thailand over the next month so anywhere is helpful!

Also a bar on Sukhmvit up near Soy11, just down from the Landmark hotel which shows all the games. Obviously cant remember the name!

It'll be on in almost any bar you go into though I suspect.

yeah we'll be backpacking but as its relatively cheap out there will try the odd day or two in luxury (before cambodia/vietnam/oz/NZ/etc) - will defo take a look at ko sarn - all these places better have the matches on telly or else will have to detour!

You can get a bus from outside the departures lounge there. Sawasdee House is basic but just away from the the KS. Pretty cheap. Its a 2 min walk to the end of the KS by the big Buddhist temple.

Enjoy it, its mental, but you won't want to leave!

Just about anywhere you like. However avoid Khao San road as it's f*cking awful and there are more Aussies than in Sydney.

Not sure about current policy on closing times in town. You might have to ask around a bit to find somewhere open at that time. If the worst comes to the worst you'llbe able to find a noodle stall on the street that's got the TV on.

Have you seen the amount of Asians in Sydney? We need to go to Thailand just to get away from them. ;)

cheers for the advice folks, all been duly noted(inc the comments about being more country folk than in your own countries...) tho I'm not one to talk, us bloody irish are everywhere - in fact if you brought everyone back to ireland it'd look like one of those icebergs you see on the nature program with all the penguins hanging on to it for dear life...

but dont get me on a rant on these so called irish bars you see everywhere - irish my a***!

ive heard bangkok is mental in places alright - tho from a liverpool fan point of view its good to know the whole place is footy mad as we obviously want to get to the beaches/the north (chang mai) etc...
