Why is it when you tell someone to repeat the word SIX over-and-over for 10 seconds or so, then say STOP and ask them to name a vegetable they will always reply CARROT?

 

There is not an English speaking person on the planet who will give any other answer. Try it out on someone in your office if you don?t believe me.

 

There must be a reason for this but can anyone explain why?
