We also have Gerrard and Mascherano in those positions. Up front after Torres we have Voronin and Ngog. While in defence Agger and Aurelio can't be relied upon for a full season. Noble is way down our list of priorities at the moment.

How is another CM a necessity when we lack strength in depth up front and in defence?

West Ham are in big trouble according to the Sunday rags and Zola is threatening to walk if they sell any of their key players to balance the books. Noble is a good player but he'd be a luxury at the moment. If we sign anyone for that type of money it has to be a creative forward, but it's not looking good. Just watching Suarez for Ajax and he looks the business.

You're right but that isn't always the case is it? Hence the revolving door of mediocre foreigners over the past 10 years, most of whom should never have even been considered good enough for us. I'm not saying Hammill is a world beater or would have made it but he's a good example of a wasted talent who could have saved us some money in the long run, even if he's plays a minor squad role.
