Oh I agree he looks our best CB by a mile, but I just have some concerns over his positioning recently, and I'm praying it's cause he's trying to cover his mates.

saw that too. found it strange, but he defo said it. to be fair, I also remember a radio interview with pulis from I think the first game of last season. He was pissed off that the interviewer was making suggestions that his team had "parked the bus", and hadn't necessarily played the prettiest football. His method's may be successful, but i pay little attention to his opinions.

of course you'd expect him to score when getting in that position, but im just saying it's simplistic to say it was a sitter. how many times have alonso/mascherano/gerrard arrived in similar positions ? he's worked to get in to the position, in a way no other centre mid appears to do for us (whether he plays or he doesn't), and messes up the money shot. It happens.

got a point there, any fan worth his salt wants lucas to succeed. that kind of mindset has you willing to give him the benefit of any doubt for longer than you would when judging a player from another team.

seen worse misses. i'd imagine that kind of chance is missed more often than it's taken, takes a lot of things to fall into place for chances like that to go in.

Can't decide if Carra is just looking dodgy because he's aware of needing to cover for his fellow defenders, or because his legs aren't quite capable of putting him where he wants to be. It's a worry either way, but hopefully if Agger/Aurelio return to the back four soon, he may be back to his normal self.

it was obvious much earlier we needed something different, and I'm sure like most I was thinking babel or reira for insua. my one complaint over rafa, he's a stubborn, arrogant fecker who seems to think early subs are an admission of a poor team selection. Still, his stubborn, arrogant nature also appears to be his strength. If he had the ability to accept he was wrong, and make changes earlier, would he also then be less likely to get things so right in games vs likes of Barca/Chelsea ?
