  1. Yeah i know, i was just saying. anyway kuyt won't be first choice when we get our olympians back, he's just filling the void until they come back
  2. what i am wondering from rafa's latest quote is that he clearly says that he has another signing lined up (after selling pennant and veronin - thats how i interpret the above quotes) but is that in addition to buying barry or his replacement. here's hoping that its two players
  3. he actually looked alright/better playing behind torres when keane came off and el zhar was playing on the right.....
  4. apparently we were linked with bush
  5. sorry about that, i was a bit angry when i wrote that. ie our sh*te performance in liege, rafa wanted to leave and not having signed barry, hence xabi took a verbal beating
  6. exactly what the other two posts said. are main midfielders are at the olympics. when we have everyone back our front four will look like this keane ------------stevie g-------------babel --------------------torres------------------ with all four interchanging.....
  7. thats poor journalism. rafa came out last night and made it clear that tom hicks is on his side. poor poor journalism.
  8. haha. dont get me wrong, i'm more pro rafa than anti-alonso. i'd rather alonso leave over rafa anyday of the week. alonso is a good player, especially at what he does. but thing with him is that in the next game or so he will be as infuriating as he is good (eg game against liege) and that is what gets to me. just hoping he can keep on playing as he did yesterday for the rest of the season. that will be the acid test. in an ideal world we should be able to have barry and xabi in the squad.
  9. first of all, right apologies for slagging off alonso. maybe he has a point to prove and hes proving it. in an ideal world we could have both xabi and barry second, p rick parry has got to go.... he's uber sh*te....anyone remember the gerrard contract negotiations. third, i knew it rafa is aligned with hicks. fourth, hes bringing in another player (maybe on top of barry), come on here's to no.19 and saf's retirement
  10. it is people like you that vex. anyway getting back to alonso, will people remove their rose tinted glasses and smell the coffee. to put it neatly alonso is not the man best suited to play in the system we are going to. someone with a left foot ie barry would have been. moreover, people need to forget alonso's great long passing. while it's great, that's is not what is needed. we need someone who can get stuck, can get the ball and pass it quickly, track back and not get caught in possession. i used to like alonso, but wathcing him on wednesday made me realise why rafa wants to get rid of him and why i too realised he aint what we need to win the premier league. more importantly, do people not realise he is not even first choice in the spanish side, he's behind a 20yr old (fabregas) and 30 odd year old (senna) doesn't that tell you anything. Doesn't it also tell you that (a) that not many people were interested in him (b) no one wants to pay more than 12m. HE IS NOT GOOD AS EVERYONE MAKES HIM OUT TO BE. there is no room for sentiments.
  11. it's probably more down to boardroom politics. on the one hand, you have gillet and parry. on the other, you have hicks and rafa. rafa can't buy barry unless both of the owners agree to do so. so if one of them says tough luck then its tough luck. as rafa has pointed out, parry has been leading the negotiations and I would not be surprised if he went running to gillet like a little b*atch that he is and telling him that this deal should not happen. people, all hate hicks because he's a gobsh*te but thats all he is. in life you have to be really wary of those who don't say a lot and lurk in the background because they are always hiding something and would put gillet in this category.
  12. have you not read or listened to rafas press conference. its fin parry and the board who f****** barry around
  13. the quicker alonoso leaves the better. i dont care what other liverpool fans think, but alonso is not going to win us the premier league. he's soft, he doesn't get stuck in, he's chicken. plus he's undermining rafa. get the f**k out i say to alonso. we aint gonna win sh*t with him. he wont even be first choice. rafa will play masch, lucas, stevie g before he plays him, at least the liverpool daily post makes it clear that it's f***** rick parry thats f**** it all up. In may rafa: rick sell alonso and get barry ok, rafa. anything for you August: (4 months later) rafa: have you done it yet rick: no rafa: P rick
  14. for all the balague doubters even the Times is reporting that rafa was gonna quit. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle4543462.ece
  15. yeah hes p*ssed, but not just at the board but at the jornalists, mon etc
  16. what vexes me is that none of these journalists point out that keane will be 32 in 4 years time and cost a lot more than barry did. idddddiooots
  17. or maybe its the other way round. remember last year, when rafa wanted to sign khaka kaladze on a free and the board refused to do so. it was because they were getting ready to get rid of him and replace him with klinsmann. the same is happening here. this time round they are refusing to buy barry, probably thinking of why they should fund this when he's gone next year. its like the abrahmovich and mourinho situation. in the pre-season before he got sacked he wasn't given any money and all his transfers were freebies (pizarro, sidwell and ben haim) and what happened a few months later he got sacked. likewise, benitez has only really spent money that he has recouped from the selling players. our net spend this season is only £8m. spending another £18m on player for a manager that they are going get shot of is poor business.
  18. thats quite ingenious actually... i'll get on the blower to rafa :-) parry and gillet need to get the hell out....
  19. he was right about silva - that's at least one thing right
  20. nah mate i love rafa instead, he is building something here, any liverpool fan can see that. if he walks out now it comes all crumbling down. the new manager will destroy before he reconstructs. the youth team is looking good and our 1st XI is looking brilliant. if rafa departs all this disappers and it will be another 18 years before we win anything. btw, when it comes to rafa balague is normally spot on, they are friends.. he was probably referring to himself in that article. ie "his trusted allies and close friends"
  21. mate rafa has left for a lot less - see valencia. since its been known that parry has blocked his move to buy barry i wake up every morning dreading that rafa has quit.... anyway what comes out of all this is that it's Parry who is fin everything up.
  22. i hate gillett and parry. i don't think it's hicks who is behind all this, he may be outspoken but looking at his sport franchises in america he likes to spend. it must be gillet and his pal parry, i dont belive how parry gets away with it. fin idiot. funny thing is im one of those believer that if we bought barry we would have been close to the winning the league. f*ckin dumwits..
  23. i was just reading the uefa regulations about players being cup tied, which states: 17.07 Excluding the three rounds of the UEFA Intertoto Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, and subject to paragraph 17.18 below, a player may not play UEFA club competition matches for more than one competing club in the course of the same season. A substitute player who is not fielded is entitled to play for another club competing in the same season’s UEFA club competitions, provided that he is registered with the UEFA administration in accordance with the present Regulations. 17.18 One player from the above quota of three who has played UEFA club competition matches for another competing club in the current season may exceptionally be registered, provided that the player has not been fielded: - in the same competition for another club - for another club that is currently in the same competition. Furthermore, if the player’s new club is playing in the UEFA Cup, his former club must not have played in the UEFA Cup at any point in the current season does that mean barry isn't actually cup tied?
  24. guys he used the singular when referring to the owners "All the talks have been between our chief executive Rick Parry, the owner and the chief executive of Aston Villa. And those talks have all been pretty good. We all know we have two owners, so which one do you reckon he was referring to? Personally, I reckon it's Parry and Gillet vs Hicks and Rafa in the boardroom...
