  1. Eriksson is 1of 3 names on Borussia Dortmund's shortlist as they look for a replacement for Götze. The other 2 - if reports are to be believed - are Bernard (BRA) and Tello (ESP).
  2. On holidays in Napoli, former home of Diego A. Maradona. What a crazy city...
  3. I'm currently in Napoli and there are no news of Liverpool players joining Rafa so far. But target Toby Alderweireld is close to join Leverkusen.
  4. Transfer Update: Liverpool keeper Peter Gulacsi has officially left the club. The 23 year old signed a 4 year contract at my home team Red Bull Salzburg after completing a 3 day trial. Official source: ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation)

  15. You're right there. It also comes down to mentality and many other factors. Roman Weidenfeller is doing a great job at Dortmund, will end his career there, step into marketing or management and so on. He's settled there. Why should he prove himself elsewhere when he's in such a safe place? VanDerSar was looking for a new challenge and did great at ManU. Young De Gea looked great at Atletico Madrid but couldn't handle the pressure. Which happens to a lot of players. That is why judging players is such a difficult thing to do. You can be a top class player - but when you don't have the right attitude and the right surroundings* it doesn't matter (you still get your wages paid). See Torres, Fernando. * Othmar Hitzfeld is/was a great manager - but he didn't want to go to England because of the language barrier. They are only human after all.
  16. He is. But he's also 32 years old - still a perfect age and a perfect situation to be in at Borussia Dortmund. If someone replaces Reina, a 32 -year old keeper might not be what Rodgers is thinking of. Despite the obvious class of Weidenfeller. One thing that goes against Weidenfeller - he's got nothing left to prove. Whereas younger keepers want to make their names at at bigger club, Weidenfeller has already seen it all and might not be that hungry for success if he ever leaves his club.
  17. Yes, he's currently one of the three keepers (Rene Adler, Marc Andre ter-Stegen, Ron-Robert Zieler) trying to push Manuel Neuer for the number 1 spot And based on his performances he's pushing hard to be considered for that role in the near future. Especially if he's doing well for a bigger club than Hannover 96. But as long as Neuer is healthy there is only the backup job to fight for.
  18. We could do much worse than buying Ron-Robert Zieler and selling Reina to get Walcott. There are some great young players emerging in the German Bundesliga. It's similar to when France dominated football 1998-2002 and French youngsters were snapped up by the best clubs. We may find cheaper alternatives there. And I'm not including players of Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund , who are deemed to be untouchable. Höwedes, Neustädter, both Bender brothers, Draxler, Holtby, Schürrle, Kießling - most of them are arelady established members of the German Nationalteam, well coached and in a situation like Sami Khedira (Stuttgart -> Real Madrid) or Mesut Özil (Bremen -> Real Madrid) before they were bought by bigger clubs. The problem is, the Bundesliga is also the place to be at the moment. Clubs are making profits, sold out stadiums, good football - you don't get that in Spain or Italy right now.
  19. 1. Enrique 2. Lucas 3. Johnson
  20. 1. Suarez 2. Enrique 3. Sterling
  21. 1. Suarez 2. Allen 3. Gerrard
  22. 1. Allen 2. Johnson 3. Sterling
  23. As another Austrian (and no, it's not me involved in the Huntelaar saga...) Translation: "We can't force Huntelaar to sign a new contract. We want him to stay but we need him to be 100% sure. We can't thrash(!) him to try and force his signature. We don't want to sell him. Schalke is playing in the Champions League and trying to improve in the league. We must not give away the present."
  24. FT Won and kept a clean sheet in a tricky away game = job done, no matter wht happened It will take time for Rodgers to build a strong Liverpool team.
