given that Rafa is now making noises about not being able to mount a title challenge due to insufficient funds, how many people still think he is still the man to carry the team forward? To be at this stage throwing the towel in before a single player has been signed is intriguing to say the least is he merely trying to take the pressure of expectation off the team? is he trying to pressure the owners publicly again or is he getting his excuses in early? I really don't know what to think. maybe he is preparing the fans for disappointment ahead of the coming transfer window.

as we haven't signed any wingers yet if the right back was established proven quality then yes we need to be improving the first team we have squad players and young players coming through deggen to me is no better than what we have. We are getting left behind already in this window in terms of competing for the best players available and we will be having the same discussions again this time next year only instead of Voronin being pushed out the door it will be Deggen. I know the situation is bad and Rafa is making the best of a bad lot but lets not kid ourselves we are further behind than ever when it comes to competing in the transfer market. the comparison was made between a free transfer of babbel and deggen with the success of the babbel transfer used as a justification for this move the two players are totally different - if babbel was in contract and available we would be looking at least 16 million to bring him here on todays prices - if deggan was in contract how much would he cost?

yeah and Babbel was an estbablished and highly renowned player at the time now if we were signing a player of that ilk now we would be paying 16 million for him. What do you reckon Deggen is worth in the market? But then again he could turn into an inspired signing.

why are we buying players like this guy deggen?? i don't understand it. Is he any better than whats already there in Finnan and Arbeloa? i haven't seen him play so Im just wondering is he any good? is it really just down to money and the fact that hes a free transfer?

I would say that I have to disagree with the majority of what you say here. The owners have run the clubs name through the s*** and have stamped all over 'the Liverpool way'. This is the quickest and most vocal way for the fans to be heard. We were the laughing stock of the prem before Monday nights game and have been for a while now largely down to the current pair of cowboys who now own the club. The situation has reached critical mass and protest is inevitable. Pressure has to be brought to bear on these yahoos and the more the better. Perhaps for the next game non-attendance would be a suitable ramp-up, with boycotts of the club shop etc. The supporters need to be united on this the more pressure brought to bear the quicker these eejits can be shifted. The last thing we want is to be sitting 12 months down the line with the yanks in place and the club in s*** and saying to ourselves if only we had made a bigger noise.

did anyone else notice spells in the second half where sissoko went missing and was practically hiding from the ball. I could see it clear as day when he kept moving himself into positions where the player on the ball wouldn't have the option of passing to him. Think the guys confidence is extremely low and think benitez should be very hesitant about starting him in any high profile match again.
