Thought he would be a good signing when he came, but arrived at a point ovewr a month ago where I thoought the crowd had got to him and didn't think he had the mentality to overcome the lack of confidence through that. However I think he's showing that he has the bottle to keep going and am sure all aspects of his game will improve.

Now that's what I call the Liverpool way from .tv Academy Community Coach and former Liverpool youth team player Gareth Evans is getting ready to spread the word of LFC on the other side of the Atlantic ? by taking up a new post working across the southern states of the USA. As reported on Liverpoolfc.tv last year, the Reds have made a firm commitment to help develop football at grassroots level in America and are working in partnership with the Salvation Army to help encourage Hispanic, ethnic minority and underprivileged kids to take up the game. Various members of staff from both Anfield and the Academy have undertaken trips to the States over the past year to assist with the considerable work taking place and from next Monday Gareth will become a full time ambassador for the club by working in America. ?I?ll be out there for two separate three month periods to begin with and then we?ll take things from there,? he said. ?It was back in July when Steve Heighway asked me if this was an opportunity I?d fancy and my initial thought was to just go for it and enjoy the experience. ?I?ll be based in Atlanta but a lot of the work is going to be done in Memphis and across the other southern states. I?ll be doing lots of coaching with the kids and working with other coaches to help spread the Liverpool gospel. ?I?ve been a Community Coach for the last six years but this is going to be a fresh challenge for me and it?s one I?m going to enjoy. It?s going to be hard work but I have a lot of energy and enthusiasm for what lies ahead.? Academy Director Steve Heighway has already delivered seminars in America as part of this unique link-up and he has no doubts that the benefits of the work Liverpool are doing in the States will prove to be entirely positive. ?This is a way of spreading the club?s gospel in a tasteful manner,? he said. ?We?ll be giving something to the community by working with thousands of their kids. ?The nice thing is that the kids will be getting the coaching free of charge. The Salvation Army are building sports centres across the southern states and these will be places where ethnic minority and underprivileged kids will be able to receive coaching in the Liverpool way of giving it. Any handouts they get will have a Liverpool presence on and so it?s a way for us to spread the word of what we?re all about. ?Gareth?s job will be about working with and enlisting a group of coaches who are able to take this programme forward. He will be able to express our ideas while working with hundreds of coaches and thousands of kids. Gareth has been involved with Liverpool since he was ten and so he knows the ethics and the values which we all share. ?This is not about looking for elite kids and working with the best young talents in America. It?s a unique scheme because we honestly don?t know what we?re going to get out of it. Other clubs may try to make a financial killing out of a programme like this but we don?t feel that?s the right way to approach the American market. ?We could see benefits in a number of ways if we make a success of it. Obviously it?s good PR for our club, if people learn all about us then we?ll get more hits on our website and then maybe new fans might buy Liverpool related merchandise. Of course we might also find a player. ?These scenarios are all for the future though. The main thing now is to do a good job at grassroots level and have our name synonymous with working with underprivileged communities and spreading the football gospel in the way we feel it should be done. ?Football in America is essentially a middle class sport and you have to pay about 500 dollars before you can even join a club over there. What we?re going to be involved with is giving kids the chance to play for free and I think that?s what is so exciting. We want kids who have never been exposed to football before to be thrilled by it. ?Every week we get offers from all over the world from clubs and associations wanting some sort of link-up with us. You can?t have a presence everywhere but the good thing about this project is we have direct control over it. We?ll run with it and see how it goes. We?ll do it with class and with the Academy stamp and hope it proves to be beneficial for everyone involved.?

Provident cheque or maybe store card

now I remember.Substitute Gerard Alonso Kuyt Gonzalez Pennant CrouchBellamy etc alongside the Mascherano bit and god I might not live to see us as champions again
-
I have to admit I can't remember his performances in the world cup, but since Didi left we have had no one who can take the sting out of the opposition when we are on the rack. If he plays the holding role in any way like Makelele or defends thew defence as didi I'd have to say we have a vacancy
