  1. Nando is going nowhere :-) We all wanted to hear this... Quote from Sky Sports "This is my team, my city and Anfield is my pitch. I can't tell you how good I feel about playing for Liverpool. "It is so important to me that the fans think so highly of me. It is fantastic to see my name on the shirts of our fans. "This was only my first season for Liverpool, and I can say without contradiction I want to play better here for many more yet." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11669_3615974,00.html
  2. Riise Out, Abidal In At Anfield? Recent reports have suggested Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will be looking to spend up to £10 million on Barcelona's Eric Abidal, to replace the troubled John Arne Riise, who may be on his way to Newcastle United... With Liverpool constantly being linked with players to strengthen their full-back positions, Eric Abidal is the latest name to be thrown into the hat. The French international has had a hit-and-miss debut season with Barcelona, and it is rumoured he could be allowed to leave, with the Blaugrana looking to bring in Dani Alves to play at right-back, and if Gianluca Zambrotta ends up staying at Camp Nou, then he would fill the void on the left. The player himself did not dismiss the possibility of a move, and indeed suggested it could happen if it is what the club decides is best. “There is change in all clubs and it’s correct we’ve not had an entirely successful season, for now I’m here, if ever the club chooses to sell me, we’ll see,” he is reported to have said. Meanwhile John Arne Riise, whose form has declined in the past few seasons, seemingly put the nail in his coffin with the comical own goal in the final minute of the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea, that arguably proved to be the turning point in the tie that saw the Blues through to the final in Moscow. Newcastle, who are looking to rebuild their squad over the summer, are looking for a quality left-back, and are now being linked with Riise. Claims are being made that a £4 million deal was reached six weeks ago, and that he will sign a three-year deal worth around £30,000 a week at the north-east club.
  3. Martin O’Neill may well want a private word with Patrik Berger after the Aston Villa midfielder advised his team-mate Gareth Barry that the chance to move to Liverpool was ‘the opportunity of a lifetime’. O’Neill confirmed last week that The Reds had made an approach for Barry but the Ulsterman angrily brushed off their offer, which he said was a ‘mis-match of nameless player exchanges’. Now his efforts to sweet-talk Barry into staying at Villa seem to have been undermined somewhat by Berger’s comments. “If I was in Gareth's position I would go there tomorrow. It is the opportunity of a lifetime. Liverpool don't come after you every year,” said the Czech. “He is the heart of our team and it would be a massive challenge for him. He would be in the Champions League and challenging to win trophies every year. “I'm not surprised they want to sign him. He has had a fantastic season and was our main player from the beginning to the end. He has played well for the national team as well. But I think the gap — not just between Villa and the top four but the rest of the league — is big. To break into the top four you would really have to spend a lot of money. “Everton have tried for the past few years but they only did it once. It is going to be tough for Villa to do that. It will take time and to reach the Champions League you would need to keep players like Gareth.”
  4. Liverpool fans could be welcoming their new Kop heroes sooner than later if boss Rafa Benitez has his way. Time is of the essence to Benitez, who has revealed the Reds are trying to sign new players this month, and not wait until later in the summer. Co-owner Tom Hicks has agreed to a summer spending spree of more than £30million, and Benitez has given chief executive Rick Parry a list of top targets. The Reds have already been linked to Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry and Wigan's Antonio Valencia. And any new faces will be coming quickly, hopes Benitez.
  5. A couple of links to newspaper stories/transfers and speculation etc?? http://www.sportinglife.com/football/transfer_centre/ http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/...eague/Liverpool
  6. It has been reported that the Reds are willing to pay £12million for the Aston Villa skipper, yet the 27-year-old has responded by insisting his thoughts are only with his current club. "At this moment in time it's just speculation," Barry told Sky Sports. "It's something I've dealt with before and I will approach it exactly the same way as I have done in the past, until the manager says something different, or I hear something different.”
  7. Lets get a transfer thread going!! be honest we have nothing else to look forward to ??
  8. if I am honest I am loving the thought of Jose Mourinho managing our club at some point in the future, I also feel like I am letting Rafa down by admitting this but my point is if Rafa left/pushed out who would wet the appetite as a fan of LFC ??? By all acounts it looks like Rafa will be gone in the summer, and that will be a sad day for LFC and for me as a fan, I respect Rafa and think he is a good bloke but something is not quite right with him this season and this has rubbed off on the players and our displays. I also believe a number of players would leave if Rafa left, Mourinho is the only person that could replace Rafa and stop these players leaving the squad. Am I right in thinking that this in the back of all our minds, am I right or wrong ?? Your views guys ??
