  1. Yes.
  2. Why would they wait to release such a statement? Just takes the PR gimp 10 minutes to crank one of those out.
  3. Magneto tweeted this yesterday Then Swipe quoted this The first word in my reply was "If": I am speculating based on the information available to me. It would make sense to me that we'd use existing financial models (spurs, arsenal) as a baseline target and then tweak as things progress. It also makes sense to me because (excepting Maldini's point about the figures being a year old) the numbers approximately match. The mitigating factors that I can imagine are any increased commercial revenue as a result of sponsorship deal and possibly the Euro Vase. It might also be that with imminent retiring / contract renegotiations of Carra & Gerrard, resulting in lower wages, the plan is to hit spurs / arsenal like levels of wages to revenue in the next few years. Full disclosure: I don't work in finance, I'm just bored and have had a lot of coffee. I have only had one piece of insider information once, and that's unlikely to happen again.
  4. If the objective is to reduce the revenue to wage ratio to something similar to spurs, and the way to do that is by cutting our wage bill by £500k, then spending that money on new wages is not going to help hit our financial targets.
  5. £500k per week would get us down to about £102.9mm, or about 56%, not including any revenue increases, so we'd be in line with spurs and arsenal, which seems a reasonable target in itself. However it would seem that we're not budgeting use that freed up money, which is a little worrying. There were some estimates earlier about the players we were getting rid of, but does anyone know any actual wages for those players?
  6. Agreed. This is the most concerning news I've heard this summer.
  7. There were several lists of the ones he got right. Generally, if we had signed the attackers fergie signed instead of the ones we did sign, we would be in a much better place.
  8. Yep or they don't want to buy a new forward without getting rid of one.
  9. Bellion, Bebe, Owen. Berbatov perhaps.
  10. This just in: We have not (I assume)
  11. It means "Liverpool want the steering wheel" Lucas is by some regards a Volante, a player who sets the direction of the team. (Also Mr X Alonso). Ramirez isn't a volante (as far as I'm aware). Edit: Volante seems to be a generic term for midfielder in latin america.
  12. Why are people who are opposed to us signing Allen opposed to us signing him?
  13. Actually if we could get £50 million we could buy the swansea first team squad and jovetic.
  14. This is going to be wildly unpopular but... I would be happy to sell him for a fee of £50 million or more. For that we could get Jovetic (30 million euro) and another. I can't be sentimental about players any more. £50 million is substantially more than Zlatan or Aguero who are players of a similar calibre. Not suggesting that we should buy either of those two but we look to the market to establish value. If the player has an offer substantially over his value and there are replacements available under the market value we should sell. I support the football club. Players come and go. Yes I'm still bitter about the departure of Xabi and that other spanish c***.
  15. Our argument "Well we paid £35 million for Andy Carroll so Suarez is going to cost you £70 million"
  16. ftfy
  17. Demand is also much higher for Dempsey than Carroll.
  18. It's just hard to let go of the hope that one day he will become a £35 million player. Which he wont. But I spent all last year trying to convince myself that he could.
  19. You're right, there are many other reasons to write of Downing beyond his lack of goals.
  20. I have this hope that however this ends, it ends quickly. Don't like my chances though...
  21. I think Allen is a fantastic little player. From the very little I've seen of Holtby he seems less of a headless chicken than young theo. Whether he's a better bet depends entirely on the price.
  22. Who? When?
  23. Has anyone ever said this?
  24. Who from what?
