He was mad to take the job, half of their fan base hated him from the off. It distracted the fan base from their real problems, until it didn’t. Then along came Lampard and he’s feeding the bile so they’re content spewing that.

Lampard and that bunch are made for each other. He’s moaning that VvD should have got a red, which will obviously mean they would have won the game and gone on to win the league and FA Cup. Actually he’s quickly realised (just as politicians do) that all you need to do is stoke the fire between to sets of rivals and they ignore how s*** you are. This is why they tired of managers that could actually manage and not car salesmen con artists like Lampard.
