Swansea fear Allen will follow Rodgers to Anfield... but Liverpool will have to pay at least £10m By Ian Ladyman PUBLISHED: 21:38 GMT, 31 May 2012 | UPDATED: 22:06 GMT, 31 May 2012 Comments (0) Share Liverpool expect to unveil Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers as their manager and he is believed to be considering a bid for the Welsh club’s young midfielder Joe Allen. Rodgers has agreed a three-year deal to succeed Kenny Dalglish, although negotiations looked set to be held up by a wrangle over compensation. However, the Carling Cup winners have agreed to pay the £5million that was in Rodgers’ contract. He has been told he can spend this summer and Sportsmail can reveal that, as well as attempting to hijack Swansea’s £6.8m move for Hoffenheim’s Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, Rodgers wants his old club’s highly-rated Wales playmaker Allen, whom he sees as the type of player he needs to transfer his pass-and-move style of football to Anfield. That will cast doubts on the futures of Liverpool midfielders such as Charlie Adam. Allen, 22 and a product of the Swansea youth system, is known as a creative midfielder player and played 44 times last season. With three years left on his contract, Rodgers may have to pay in excess of £10m to sign him. Swansea are sure to fight hard to hang on to Allen, especially as Rodgers is already taking three members of his backroom staff to Anfield. The 39-year-old has been given the go-ahead by Liverpool owners FSG to bring assistant manager Colin Pascoe, head of performance analysis Chris Davies and performance consultant Glen Driscoll to Anfield. Swansea confirmed that compensation had been agreed for all three and their appointments will be finalised today. Dalglish’s assistant Steve Clarke has had one resignation offer rejected at Anfield but it is understood that he will now leave. Rodgers has been told there are no huge expectations for his debut season, while he has indicated to the owners that Liverpool are a club in need of major change and that will take time http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2152946/Swansea-fear-Joe-Allen-follow-Brendan-Rodgers-Anfield--Liverpool-pay-10m.html

Let´s hope Gylfi Sigurdsson will follow..... SWANSEA CITY’S record-breaking deal for Gylfi Sigurdsson is hanging in the balance after Brendan Rodgers’ move to Liverpool. Rodgers is set to agree a three-year deal to take over at Liverpool and his departure has cast doubt on Swansea’s chances of landing Sigurdsson. Swansea have agreed a club record £6.8m fee with German outfit Hoffenheim as well as personal terms with the player, but he is yet to put pen to paper on the move. Sigurdsson was involved in Iceland’s friendly against Sweden in Gothenburg last night and was due for a medical at Swansea later this week before completing the move. But Rodgers’ move to Anfield could scupper the transfer, with the outgoing boss playing a huge part in convincing Sigurdsson to join the Swans The pair worked together during Rodgers’ ill-fated six-month spell at Reading before Sigurdsson was sold to Hoffenheim for £6.5m in 2010. Sigurdsson jumped at the chance to link up with Rodgers again in January after falling out of favour at Hoffenheim and enjoyed a highly successful loan spell at Swansea, scoring seven goals. Speaking when he first signed in January, Sigurdsson said: “Brendan was a huge reason for me coming here. We had a quick chat, but he didn’t need to sell the move to me. “He’s a terrific coach. I respect him as a manager and that’s really important.” http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footballnation/football-news/2012/05/30/91466-31081880/ -
