Relax guys. There are still 3 weeks to go. Klopp's comments the other day should be enough evidence to suggest we are still trying to do business but it may happen late in the window. It's clear we need to create space in the squad and that it's not about finances. I still fully expect us to sign a couple of players (one at the very least) before the window closes at 11pm on Aug 31st.

Graeme Kelly was on LFC DayTrippers tonight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp4pJyIytMY&t=2s Listen from around 28 minutes in. He name drops Chiesa By the way how do you embed tweets and videos?
-
I think he is implying that it's a name that will piss fans off as they wouldn't be happy about it. Who knows? Let's wait and see. I trust Klopp will sign the right players that will push us on further.
-
Graeme Kelly is one of the good ones. However, like you, I'm not sure what to make of his tweet. Could be a signing that will piss some folks off lol.

That's a very simplistic way of looking at the situation. It is well documented that Klopp really wanted to keep Wijnaldum but the club weren't prepared to meet his demands. This isn't on Klopp. And like a few of the journos said the other day, Klopp doesn't have full control when it comes to contract negotiations. Henderson case in point.

Exactly so if things stay as they are right now i.e. Shaqiri stays and we didn't sell another player or sign anyone else we could still register all of our 8 home-grown players plus the 17 non-homegrown players. Like I said I'm not including Karius because he isn't getting registered regardless.
-
Not sure what you mean here? We don't need to sell a player to register our home-grown players. I've explained our current situation above. Had to edit one or two things.
-
No he doesn't count as home-grown. He would have needed to have been with us for a full 3 years before turning the age of 21 to count as home-grown. It's also the reason Robertson isn't counted as home-grown as he joined Hull from Scotland when he was 20 years of age. Had he been registered with them for a full 3 years before he turned 21, he would have been counted as home-grown. Below is a list of our non-home-grown players bear in mind the maximum a club is allowed to register is 17. And remember you can only register a maximum of 25 players (including home-grown players) in the premier league. GK (3) Alisson Karius Adrian D (5) Robertson Van Dijk Matip Konate Tsimikas M (3) Fabinho Thiago Keita F (7) Salah Firmino Mane Jota Shaqiri Origi Minamino That's a total of 18 non home-grown players if you include Karius but let's be honest there isn't a situation where he will be registered so let's just say we have 17 non home-grown players. When Shaqiri leaves it'll be down to 16 which then creates space for us to sign a player from abroad. Below are the list of home-grown players we currently have Caoimhin Kelleher Joe Gomez Nat Phillips Ben Davies Trent Alexander-Arnold Jordan Henderson James Milner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 8 home-grown players in total. I haven't included the likes of Nico William's, Rhys Williams, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones as they're under the age of 21 and don't need to be registered.

James Pearce@JamesPearceLFC·5m Xherdan Shaqiri likely to be the next outgoing from #LFC. Wants to leave and #LFC won't stand in his way if right offer is tabled. Looking for around £12m. Lazio/Napoli both keen. Liverpool's 12-month option means he's effectively under contract til 2023.
-
I don't believe the Saul rumours at all. Just seems as though his agent is using the likes of ourselves and utd to drum up interest, with the latter being the latest club reported to be in for him. And the Chiese story is absolute nonsense particularly as Juventus don't even own the player so why would we offer them €100m?!

Napoli and Lazio target £15m-rated Liverpool star Shaqiri Neil Jones Liverpool Correspondent 09:50 26 Jul 2021 The Switzerland international is looking to leave Anfield in search of regular football this summer, with developments expected this week Xherdan Shaqiri looks set to depart Liverpool this summer, with Napoli and Lazio among the clubs keen to sign the Switzerland star. The Serie A duo, Goal understands, have been in touch with the 29-year-old’s representatives following his impressive displays at Euro 2020, and both are keen to do a deal before the end of the summer transfer window. However, they are likely to face competition from Spain, where Sevilla and Villarreal are among the clubs keen. Why is Shaqiri leaving Liverpool? Shaqiri joined Liverpool from Stoke in a £13million ($18m) deal in 2018, and has made 63 appearances for the Reds. He was part of the squad which won the Champions League in 2019 and then followed that up with the Premier League title a year later, but has seen his progress at Anfield hampered by a series of injuries. He managed just three starts in the 2019-20 season and only seven last term, and is eager to move on in search of regular football. Liverpool had expected to sell last summer, but saw interest from Germany and Italy fail to develop into concrete offers. Anfield sources, however, anticipate that there is a deal to be done at the right price this time around. Shaqiri still has two years left on his contract at Anfield. Sevilla and Villarreal have enquired about potential loan deals, but been informed that Liverpool would be looking for a sale, while Napoli and Lazio have contacted Shaqiri’s representatives. The player, it is understood, would welcome a move to Italy. What kind of fee would Liverpool want? The Reds have already raised more than £30m ($41m) in sales this summer, offloading Marko Grujic, Harry Wilson, Taiwo Awoniyi, Kamil Grabara and Liam Millar, and they would be looking to recoup around £15m ($21m) for Shaqiri, given his pedigree. Reds fans will hope that money is reinvested into the first-team, with a midfielder and a forward required if Jurgen Klopp is to freshen up his squad. Liverpool are also keen to tie down a number of star players to new contracts, with goalkeeper Alisson Becker, defender Virgil van Dijk and midfielder Fabinho all in line for fresh deals. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are also into the final two years of their contracts, as is captain Jordan Henderson, with who initial discussions have proven fruitless so far. Liverpool are aware of the need to bring in younger players in order to ensure the team continues to evolve while remaining competitive, but as yet have only brought in one senior signing this summer, the 22-year-old central defender Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig. https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/napoli-lazio-target-liverpool-shaqiri/1im5jm5gehfwa1cpm5gzfrjrlv

SHAQIRI: ‘HONOURED BY LAZIO INTEREST, SARRI’S STYLE INTRIGUES ME’ by Martin Mork | Jul 26, 2021 09:27 Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri said he’s ‘honoured’ by Lazio’s interest and hinted he would enjoy playing for Maurizio Sarri at the Olimpico. The Switzerland international revealed he has asked Liverpool to move this summer and the Aquile are mentioned as possible suitors for the 29-year-old. Shaqiri has experience from Serie A with Inter, as he spent six months with the Nerazzurri between January and August in 2015. The former Bayern Munich winger spoke to Il Corriere dello Sport about his future and mentioned a possible move to Sarri’s Lazio. “Fortunately, football has helped me achieve many of my dreams,” Shaqiri said. “I was lucky enough to play with great teams and to win many titles. “Who knows, maybe I could get something even with the Swiss national team. My contract [with] Liverpool expires in 2022, in 2018 I signed a four-year deal. “The important thing at this moment in my career is to be able to play regularly, but that hasn’t always been the case in the last three seasons. “This is why I told Liverpool that I feel ready for a new challenge. They accepted my wish and will seriously consider the offers that will come. They will not stop me.” The attacker then revealed he has not held any direct talks with other clubs. “I’m only 29 years old, I have played in some of the best Leagues in Europe and I would like to continue being a part of them,” Shaqiri continued. “I’m not yet thinking about the end of my career, it’s a future I imagine far away. We will see what destiny has in store for me. “I have no direct contact; my consultant team deals with the market. They inform me when there are clubs interested, you have to ask them for the names.” But Shaqiri went on to praise the ‘development’ of Italian football in recent years. “I think it’s not just my opinion that football in Italy has developed substantially in recent years,” he continued. “The win at the European Championship is there to prove it, a well-deserved result. “Just take a look at how many Premier League players have moved to Serie A.” Shaqiri’s spell at Inter was not a success and the Swiss winger ended up signing with Stoke City in 2015. “Sometimes in football, you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I don’t regret it, every experience takes you further in life.” About the rumours of a move to Lazio, Shaqiri admitted Sarri’s style of play would suit him and praised the work of sporting director Igli Tare. “Igli Tare has been doing an excellent job at Lazio for years,” Shaqiri added. “If it’s true that he has great respect for me, then I’m honoured. “I have been following Lazio for a long time, they are a top team. In general, due to my characteristics, I like to play more attacking football and Sarri practices it. It would be intriguing.” https://football-italia.net/shaqiri-honoured-by-lazio-interest-sarris-style-intrigues-me/

Liverpool consider midfield transfer options as Florian Neuhaus interest cools Liverpool have cooled interest in Germany international Florian Neuhaus but remain open to signing a midfielder in transfer market By Ian Doyle Chief Liverpool writer 14:42, 22 JUN 2021 Liverpool have cooled their interest in Germany international Florian Neuhaus - but are continuing to explore the possibility of signing a midfielder this summer. The Reds have been tracking the 24-year-old Borussia Moenchengladbach man for several months as they contemplate the make-up of their squad for the forthcoming campaign. Reports in Germany have indicated Jurgen Klopp will decide after the European Championships whether to make a concrete offer for Neuhaus. However, that Liverpool chose not to trigger the player's £34.25million release clause before it expired at the end of last month has indicated the Reds are keeping their options open in the market. The ECHO understands Liverpool will still monitor the progress of Neuhaus during the Euros, although he has yet to feature in the tournament ahead of Germany's final group game against Hungary on Wednesday. But with Moenchengladbach now able to command a higher fee for the player, the likelihood of a move to Anfield has lessened considerably. Liverpool are keeping tabs on a number of possible midfield targets in the wake of Gini Wijnaldum agreeing to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. The £36m arrival of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig has already addressed the chief priority of a new centre-back, leaving the Reds to explore other areas of the team. Liverpool, though, are mindful of the midfield options already at Klopp's disposal, with any firm move for reinforcement in the engine room likely to be prompted by a departure from the current squad. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-florian-neuhaus-transfer-interest-20874867

On Jadon Sancho The debts of Jürgen Klopp's club are "only" 272 million euros. Recently, the Reds were rather cautious on the transfer market. Honigstein (including The Athletic UK) says: "I cannot imagine Liverpool, especially since the money for a Sancho transfer is simply not there. A new dynamic could only come into the matter if Mo Salah leaves." This is what Liverpool reporter Melissa Reddy (including The Independent) says: "Liverpool had been interested in Jadon Sancho for a long time - they were very excited when he was with Manchester City and wanted to leave, but the club knew that a sale to a rival would never have been approved. The England international's move to Borussia Dortmund only hardened their interest in him because of the way he played, the physical demands of the league and the offensive responsibility he took on at a young age. " Before the global pandemic, Liverpool "acted cautiously on the transfer market to create reserves should a generation talent or a real difference player be available at the right time for the right price. The club bought Diogo Jota to bolster the attack, but this Awareness that the offensive trio Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah was outplayed and is not getting any younger. " Reddy continues: "Sancho's excellent performances at BVB have exploded its value to a point that was unrealistic for Liverpool. Now with an exit clause, it is an unlikely deal because of the financial situation as a result of Covid. Liverpool do not play expensive poker games, either like City, Manchester United or Chelsea, who can afford it. The transfers last summer were all on flexible terms. The Wolves, for example, only accepted around ten percent of the guaranteed transfer fee for Jota for the first year of his transfer. " One way to fund the refresh of the squad would be "to sell a top striker (as in the case of Coutinho, who was sold for Van Dijk and Alisson transfers), but it's not a buyer's market. Real Madrid and Barcelona, usually targets of such top talent are deep in debt. Liverpool have more pressing priorities to improve their squad, such as defensive, so it would be difficult to picture Sancho at Anfield, especially when it comes to betting. Paul Joyce Meanwhile, Liverpool would have to pay RB Leipzig in full for Ibrahima Konaté rather than in instalments should they try to sign the 21-year-old this summer. The centre back, who has a release clause in the region of £34 million, is on a shortlist of options to bolster their defence. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/sadio-mane-is-overthinking-liverpool-goal-drought-says-juergen-klopp-bzsfqwxv0

Are you talking about Kabak or Caleta-Car

He was on SSN about 30 mins ago. He said we are working on a number of possible options and that he would be very surprised if we didn't get something over the line. The tone has changed over the past few days. He said we are looking across Europe, free agents, loans, longer term deals if it makes financial sense. He name dropped Bremer, Diop and Mustafi but said there is nothing concrete. He also said he's been told there is nothing in the Saiss rumours.

Liverpool will try to sign defender before Monday’s deadline Paul Joyce, Northern Football Correspondent Friday January 29 2021, 5.00pm, The Times Liverpool are attempting to bring in reinforcements before the transfer window closes as Jürgen Klopp looks to address the defensive injury crisis in his squad. Although the Liverpool manager was more upbeat on the fitness of Joël Matip, indicating that the ankle ligament injury he suffered in Thursday’s 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur was not serious, his resources are still stretched. Matip and Fabinho, the midfielder who has spent a lot of time this season filling in at centre back, will be missing for Sunday’s game away to West Ham United to compound the long-term absences of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. Liverpool have previously insisted that they would not recruit a stopgap to see them through until the end of the season, yet the severity of the circumstances confronting Klopp has prompted a change of stance. Availability, however, remains the overriding issue. “I don’t know but we will try,” Klopp said. “Everyone thinks, ‘Oh, Liverpool is just fine with the situation and they don’t try.’ We try. The situation yesterday didn’t make it easier but it is just still we try to do the right things if that’s possible. “My thoughts didn’t change, my words might have. No, it’s the same situation as before. We work on this, we don’t always have training and press conferences and if we don’t sleep, we work. That’s what we did all the time. We will see.” Had neither Matip nor Fabinho, who picked up a muscle strain and missed the Tottenham game, been injured this week, then it would have been easier for Liverpool to stick rather than twist. A high-calibre signing looks out of reach, as rival clubs do not want to weaken their own ranks without first asking for a price that is beyond Liverpool’s remit. Klopp added: “I am not sure there is an £80 million centre back available at the moment and a club thinks, ‘We can get £80 million for him so we will sell him.’ I don’t think that’s the case. Actually, pretty much I know. This calibre of player the teams would not sell them now. “We need to find the right player and one which suits our financial situation, that’s clear as well. It’s about a solution, that’s the first thing, and that’s what we are working on.” https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/liverpool-will-try-to-sign-defender-before-mondays-deadline-vmwznlt6k

Tsimikas back in training as well. Great news -
He doesn't mention anything about Van Dijk being back in full training in March at all in his podcast. The March news came from that clown on Twitter who goes by the name lfczonenow
