This season's footy 2017-18

Doing my best. Fuller’s strong ale works quite well as a sacrifice to the gods. Might need to switch to something else though if it stays 0-0 for much longer. -

It was just before the red card incident wasn't it? Just outside our box on the far side of the pitch (compared to the camera). -

It is. The only exception I can think of is Guðjónsen (Eiður Smári and his dad Arnór). Where did you read this? Then there's the constant debate about wether the players should have their given names or the "surnames" on the back of the shirts... According to Icelandic naming conventions they should e.g. Have Gylfi Þór on the back rather than Sigurðsson. But for marketing reasons the players have chosen to pick the latter. -

But more importantly... Iceland is joint top with Croatia after winning against Ukraine this evening. Here's hoping we'll get more of the horrible viking clap/chant in Russia next summer. (but yeah, Syria's achievement might be bigger but don't tell anyone I said that... mkay?) -
Was there a ynwa draft fantasy on the official?
-
If we're paying 40M for Ox-Chambo... just f*cking buy Gylfi Þór for just over half that. 10 times the player. (even if I might be a bit drunk after watching tonights game).

Liverpool FC vs Manchester City FC - New Years Eve - 17.30 - BT Sport 1
Logic replied to cocknose 's topic in Liverpool FC
That'd probably suit me more. The family would kill me if I skipped dinner and/or time with the family around 18-19 on NYE. Which means I'll miss the game -

What f***ing idiot chose the date and time for this game? (I don't care if it fits into English NYE traditions... ) -

Stupid response by him but - IIRC he's got a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. So yes, he's probably right about that. -

Don't know. But any of their wide forwards would make more sense than their best midfielder up there. Edit: Seems Borja Baston is on the bench. Play him and put Gylfi in his best position. Swansea are a bit s***. -

It takes a special kind of stupid to decide to play Gylfi Sigurðsson as a striker/false9. But Swansea's Bob Bradley seems to think it's a pretty good idea... -

I'll give you Andorra, San Marino and Gibraltar. Though Iceland hasn't played against the latter two. Iceland's record against Luxembourg is W4-D3-L0. But our last game (in 2009) ended in a draw, and the last and only time we won with two goals (never done better than that) was in 1976. vs. Liechtenstein - It's W4-D2-L1. We lost a game in the qualifiers in 2007. The record against Malta is surprisingly good though. W10-D1-L3. But as you can see... we still lost three games of which the last one was in 2008. So even if we have a decent record against these teams I wouldn't say we are light-years ahead. I still sort of agree with you but I still worry about how you'd decide on who's a minnow and what about the people in those nations who might actually be really proud of only losing against England 2-0 at Wembley? We just saw what the "minnow" Iceland did at the Euros this summer. Before the competition you could hear a lot of people complaining about teams exactly like Iceland being able to take part. It supposedly dropped the quality of the game. (yes, I might be overly sensitive regarding all this exactly because I'm from one of those small nations ) -

And the final goal... dear god how incompetent can a referee be (I'm not complaining though). Problem with that is that it isn't that long ago that Iceland was in that group. But playing against the best makes football more popular which means our talented sportsmen start choosing football rather than - say handball - and then all of a sudden we've progressed to the level we're at now. And that is why I really dislike the whole idea of letting the "minnows" play in some kind of preliminaries. Because the smaller nations should also be able to enjoy football. -

Iceland is going top of our group with a 2-0 victory at home vs Turkey. Is Iceland or Turkey "the minnow"? -
Update it when you have a more reliable source, seeing as the only other site pronouncing it has published the story 14 hours ago.# Also, the Samuel Eto'o tweet that is quoted doesn't exist.
