This one from Brian Reade is certainly interesting. ------------------------------------------------------------------ THANK GOD REDS LOST Brian Reade 3/05/2008 So Liverpool fans have wiped the slate clean with God. By allowing AC Milan to beat them in last year's final and Chelsea to put them out of this year's semis The Big Man has finally called in his 2005 debts. And there are few complaints from Kopites who prayed for miracles back then. Rather than contemplating what might have been if John Arne Riise had not nutted the ball into his own net, they are seeing the Norwegian as a symbol of what has to change if they are to threaten Chelsea and Manchester United's dominance. They know that Riise, and half-a-dozen others, are not up to it at the highest level. The simple reason that Chelsea and United are off to Moscow and scrapping for the title when Liverpool aren't is they have more quality in their squad. That quality was bought with big money. As Fernando Torres suggests, give Rafa Benitez the same budget as the other two and he can match them. The up-side of the Chelsea defeat is that it may finally lance the poisonous boil in the boardroom, otherwise known as Tom Hicks. Had Liverpool won the Champions League the chances are he would have persuaded banks to invest in his "brand". And proceeded to milk it dry for years to come. But the money men may now realise that profits in football aren't guaranteed. They only come when a club is consistently successful. And that only comes when a club has stability. What Liverpool need more than anything is for Hicks to go and serious investors like DIC to give Benitez similar budgets to his rivals, build a new stadium and restore some dignity. Then maybe they can move back to an era when they didn't require favours from God to beat the best at home and abroad. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/more/2008/05...89520-20403496/

COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS!!!!

Referee is Roberto Rosetti from Italy.

Was that the worst ever performance by a ref
HL5 replied to Rory Fitzgerald 's topic in Liverpool FC
Exactly. That's what I've been ranting about since the moment it happened. I'm still seething and hope Rafa makes the point at the next pre-match conference. He should also have a word in the ref's ear before the match. The old dog Fergie has capitalised on this trillions of times, about time Rafa copied him. -
I'd rather Rafa had commented on Terry's deliberate stamp on Torres when he could easily have avoided him on the ground. Terry's an absolute thug, and just like Hleb who is receiving a post match jury for his slap, Rafa should have dropped that on UEFA lap.

I can almost put up with Andy Gray. Christ, Beglin does my head in. He is seriously thick, never sees a foul against us, and during the game I mentioned to my partner, 'just wonder if all the guys are on a promise from Roman, and that includes the bloody ref'. Goodness gbh by Terry on Torres and nothing given. Diving dogbreath all over the pitch, costing us valuable minutes, which led to the equaliser in the ninety bloddy fifth minute. Sorry rant over. I still believe we will beat them at Stamford Bridge, hoping we get a real ref.

Revealed: Why Tom Hicks told Rick Parry to resign from Liverpool FC

Xabi to Real? Surprised for a boy who comes from the Basque Region of Spain. If he goes, and I hope he doesn't, then surely he will look towards Barcelona. -

Revealed: Why Tom Hicks told Rick Parry to resign from Liverpool FC
HL5 replied to scousepie's topic in Liverpool FC
Exactly. It beggars belief how this man made such a fortune. Many Americans must be extremely gullible and servile. I can't see that behaviour working in this country. -
Yes, I heard that too. Thought they way chanting 'gis a smile' or 'gis a wave'.

Revealed: Why Tom Hicks told Rick Parry to resign from Liverpool FC

I just think that the protracted rant against Parry delivered by Hicks in that interview is more likely to anger Moores even more. Purely by association, Moores should take it that the rant included him personally. -

We may consider Moores naive and short of competency in the business world, but really, he's not that soft. So that scenario, take it from me as an ordinary clear thinking female, will never happen again. -

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Banks borrow money from other banks in order to lend money out, correct? However, due to the credit crunch, LFC's heroine by the way, banks are finding it difficult to borrow from other banks, and will therefore cherry pick the customers to whom they will lend to. In Hicks' case, I would imagine his credit rating is none to salubrious at the moment. -

This charm offensive Hicks and his PR gurus have embarked on is succeeding in throwing the fans at each others throat. The majority (a huge majority) of us say NO to Hicks. We should all speak with one voice and attack this man or we will never be rid of him. -

Sadly, I have to agree with you. The most important thing currently on our side is that the numbers don't add up. I still can't see Hicks buying out Gillett anytime soon. -

I know, it sounds strange but the guy says he works for SKY and that's what he's been told. Which begs the question again, why wait till 6am the following day, unless it's just a whole load of nonsense and nothing concrete to tell us. That's my guess anyway -

Latest update on Thicks SSN interview: ---------------------------------------------- OK, final and confirmed update. It airs at 0600 tomorrow. It's not earth shattering stuff....but don't know full detail. He wants full control, and is determined to get it. I think if anything it will give a the fullest insight into who he is, how he operates, and what he thinks. As much as is possible. It's also a lot more then a simple sit down interview. http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.....msg4183482#new -

Just heard from a guy who works for SKY, he posted this on RAWK. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, just had it confirmed.... SSN interview has just been done. WILL be on-air later today sometime. It IS on camera. Was filmed in dallas. And is embargoed until later today. Don't know what was said! All very cloak and dagger! Doesn't necassarily mean peace in our time though! http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index....opic=217364.600 -
Revealed: Why Tom Hicks told Rick Parry to resign from Liverpool FC
HL5 replied to scousepie's topic in Liverpool FC
So long as Hicks is still here Benitez will only be in control of a bank with no money. I can't see where this argument is getting us. The Americans have not got the funds large enough for Benitez to dip into the transfer market. The stories don't make much sense to me. -

How on earth can anyone believe anything Hicks says? Huyton-Red, are you simply being naive here? How can you trust anything that foams out of Hicks' mouth? ONE Simple answer to both your questions: 1. Why is he speaking so confidentally of the future with liverpool then in that interview with the daily mail on sunday ?? 2. I cant understand for the life of me why someone who knows they are not going to get finance would speak like that. HE IS A CON MAN! Have you never seen one of these beasts in operation before? It's an art form and he can bluff his way and say whatever you are wanting to hear him say. I said it before, we have been played by these 2 rogues. THIS WAS THE ULTIMATE STING, and I can still hear Scott Joplin's ragtime 'Entertaining' the Yanks. Please, do not for a nano second believe Hicks is here for any other reason but to asset-strip the club. Yes, I use the term asset-strip, because it takes away the phoney gloss of Leverage Buy Out, as asset-stripping is exactly what it is. Stop, and think again, and read fyds' posts because they are logical. Do not let Hicks drive a wedge between the fans, he has already succeeded in doing so amongst the board and Manager. -
To be honest, it's water under the old bridge. His questions should be directed at leather-head Hicks. One question he should ask is 'why do you think it right to make such statements public?'.

Revealed: Why Tom Hicks told Rick Parry to resign from Liverpool FC
HL5 replied to scousepie's topic in Liverpool FC
How long do you think Hicks can hold off the inevitable? Surely he can't afford to sit on it for too long as the credit crunch worsens, in fact neither can Gillett for that matter. Something, or one of them has to give in soon as this is surely a very unbusinesslike and illogical stance to maintain.
