I just cant see why riise has suddenly become the scaegoat. Probably because zenden has gone. He has been with us for nearly 7years, always gives 100% and has chipped in with some huge contributions in his time, e.g. Istanbul, important goals such as PSV, Barca, Man utd, Chelsea C.C.FINAL.. The thing is he is a 90,30 player. He either puts in a 90% or a 30% performance, so when he is bad, he's f***in awful. But youve got to remember, he has hardly had a run in the team this season. Cant expect him to come in every 5games and be top of his game. You have to remember he has been a big part of us having one of the best defences in Europe over the last 4years. Think its well out of order that a player that has gave us such good service is now suddenly scapegoat number 1. Always someone though

Seriously though, seems to be every forum im on now everyone has an irrational hate for riise. Just wondered if anyone could explain why

Been wondering for a while, whats everyones big problem with riise? Why all the sudden hatred for him?

Ive been thinking the same myself. Dont get me wrong, i love Carra and he would always be one of the first names on the team sheet for me, but he does tend to resort to either the long ball, or the sidewards ball at every opportunity. I think the two games weve had since the international break have lead to us going route 1 far too much. We need to cut this out and get back to knocking it about, a la Derby/Toulouse

we all know djimi has had his critics but i personally consider him a legend for that clearance he made at 3-3 off the line from shevchenko in istanbul that arguably won us the cup. he has had his moments such as burnley etc, but that moment justifies his 8year(???) career at the club. amazing to think that behind cara he is our longest serving player, probably only a year or 2 off a testimonial! he is never going to be the most skillfull of players but atleast you know he would run through a brick wall for the shirt, which is what matters. so if you do move on djimi, thanks for all the effort, and you will always be known as a european champion and a liverpool legend

i think all this about duff turning down us for newcastle is bulls***. if we wanted duff we would have had him. there is not a chance he would turn down us for newcastle. he only has to look at owen to see what a mistake he made. i think the reason nothing is reported is simply because there is nothing to report. our name may have been leeked to either strengthen chelsea's standing in the deal, or put more pressure on seville or birmingham. as someone else said this is just an easy way for newcastle to put a positive spin that another player turned down liverpool for them. all crap to please their fans. let them have their trophy player for another season until he gets crocked after a few games. newcastle are just a laughing stock, everyone can see that they need a striker, with only ameobi the fit striker on their books. but they still go and waste 10million on a left mid, when this time last year they blew 10million on another left mid, luque. i personaly stil think rafa will get alves.

id take joaquin without thinking twice. on his day he is a world class player who has probably just gone stail at betis after being there all of his career so far, a little like MO in his last year for us. i thought he really impressed against us in the champions league, especially the anfield leg. think he would definately be a great addition to the team, but there will no doubt be competition from chelsea and madrid etc,. think if rafa wanted him though we would have as good a chance as anyone.

i cant see how this deal would be too much of a risk. nowadays arent a lot of the deals structured with one large payment at the start with the rest of the payments dependant on performance? say if the deal was 10million, with 4million of that performance related. it would be simple, if the lad didnt perform and didnt reach his potential then we would not pay the full fee for him. if he did perform and reached his potential then we would pay, but the fact that he has performed would make the deal worth while, and probably meant that we would save a hell of a lot of money than if we went for him when he was already a household name. i think some players like this are worth the small risk that comes with signing them. i admit i have not seen a lot of him and only a few video clips, but the fact that he is a 17year old on the verge of the argentinian world cup squad, and from the opinions of others who have seem more of him, i really think that this is a player we should be making a move for

agree with that mate. i think if cara or stevie done what djib done everyone would be laughing about it. ok, we all know he is a bit of a nut job and a bit immature but the lad didn hurt anyone, he was getting stick of the geordies so he stook his tongue out and gestured for them to give him more. its only harmless banter. thats the way djib is, if you watch him then you will see that he makes that gesture in games all the time. it is nice to see someone with so much passion for the club

i reckon maddock and the local press would have known about this signing earlier on in the week. especialy maddock with his strong fowler connections (heard he is the godfather to one of robbies kids??). i reckon the clubs decided to keep this one quiet just for the impact and shock the deal would cause, as it did with it just being announced out of no where. usualy all deals these days are reported through the negotiations, very rare for there to be shock signings these days. oh ye, good call mattster

really think people should quit all this "sell him" "dirty scumbag" and "wife beater" s*** until we all know the facts of what has happened. fact is no one here knows what has gone on so lets hold all the insults until we know the details. i agree with what another poster said about people just jumping on the bandwagon because his form is s*** at the moment. im not defending or condoning him, just think we should wait until we get the details before crucifyimg him ffs!

at the start, i though crouchy was maybe sarcasticaly supported, largely due to his appearance, and also his goal drought which, due to the stupid amount of media coverage, was becoming a joke. he had the support, but it seemed as though it was more mocking crouchy than genuinely supporting him, a la biscan(post last season). but since the wigan goals, people are now relaising how much crouchy offers to the team. it seem wierd to say it, but he is now one of our key men. when he gets a standing ovation from the whole ground, its because people now genuinely appreciate his work for the team. he has earnt the respect of all reds.we look a different, and worse, side without him. he offers so much to the team. unrivalled link up play, holds the ball up as well as someone like shearer in his prime, and now we are getting the goals as well. and, i know everyone says this, but he has got a fantastic touch, and is a very very skillfull player. lots of flicks and tricks. i also think that crouchy seems very good for team spirit. he seems to have bonded and settled in well with the rest of the players, and he has the approval of all his team mates. as another poster said, i noticed how he was the first yesterday to run over and stick up for alonso. also rememeber him getting in to a similar nark with rio ferdinand earlier on in the season. as much as its wrong to see players losing there heads and fighting, i cant help but like the way the team spirit is so strong that they are all fighting for their mates. that can only be good for us. i have seen interviews with him and he seems a really nice guy, not big headed or cocky, but really down to earth. i really want the fella to succeed with us and i think he will. crouchy another rafa master stroke
