  1. Carroll is 5 years younger and could play here for the next 8 seasons!!
  2. Think i posted it on this thread yesterday that Camolli was in Spain yesterday...
  3. Id rather imagine Agger playing a beautiful pass to Adam who whips in one of those wonderful balls with his left foot onto the head of Carroll who buries it into the top corner!!!
  4. the difference was Ronaldo was still going to playing in the CL and competing for trophies while he stays. Torres knows this season is a write off and we won't be playing in the CL next season either. He has 3 maybe 4 years left at the top level so time is running out for him. The main problem with this has been the timing and the fact hes going to sign for another English club, but i can''t blame him for looking to move to a team that can offer him chances to win things and play in the CL he should have handled the whole thing with more class though.
  5. Carroll could be here for the next 7-8 years!! so while the fee might be big we might not need another striker for a long time, hes already very good but hes only 22 so there's plenty of scope for improvement, but he has things like his aggression and ability in the air which you can't coach. People comparing him to Crouch or Heskey maybe physically but the main thing they lacked is they don't know how to use their size and physicality, Carroll does. No defender will enjoy playing against him and if you surround him with clever technical players it could be really effective.
  6. we could always sell Anelka in the summer but use him as a stop gap until then. Talksport reporting £48 million but they're not sure if any players are involved. Knowing our luck it'll be £35 million plus Anelka or something similarly insulting.
  7. You broke my heart Nando, you broke my heart!!!
  8. hes probably gonna be Englands number 9 for the foreseeable future. sometimes you watch a player and its obvious they have what it takes. Carroll has that for me, because of his physical attributes hes always going to be a handful but he has so much more to his game that that. £30 million is probably too much but that's expected when you try and sign young English players, the question should be not what he costs but what can he bring to the team, in that respect he brings a classic number 9 that will score goals, and win everything in the air. He can link up the play and hold it up as well as anyone ive seen in the PL this season. The off field stuff is the main worry when your spending that much money on a young player with a track record of being a bit of a nutter.
  9. Remeber we don't play in La Liga all those players you mentioned are top players but theres nothing to suggest they would be as successful in the PL. Rossi is more of a technical player and while Llorente has the physical attributes for the PL im not sure he has the aggression, plus hes gonna cost a lot of money. Having watched Carroll quite closely this season he has much more about him than just a big man whose strong in the air. He holds the ball up really well and his link up play is excellent, he can also run with the ball and commit defenders, plus hes a monster in the air and wins everything. You surround him with Suarez, Gerrard, Maxi, Young and it could work really well. The obvious worry with him is the off the field stuff.
  10. have you watched any of the PL this season?? Carroll is going to be a top player for many years, sometimes you watch someone and you just know they're going to be a good player for a long time and thats how i felt once id seen him a few times. He has everything you'd want from your number 9, he scores goals, holds it up well, links the play and is a handful in the air. Its very romantic to talk about players like Aguero or Zlatan but most games we play in the league are against teams like Wolves, or Stoke or Wigan or Birmingham and for those games Carroll would be much more effective. Hes like Crouch but hes actually very good in the air and hes aggressive and a handful for any defender, he will probably end up getting sold for more than he should but thats the price you have to pay for buying young English players. If the offer has been rejected then fair enough although if the player sees a chance to move to a better team on more money we might benefit.
  11. hes only 22 hes proven he can score goals in the PL and be a handful for any defender, i think you have to pay a premium because he's young and English but i also think its pretty low risk even at that price. His link up and hold up play is excellent and obviously hes a monster in the air, if you had someone like him up top with Suarez, Gerrard, Maxi, Meireles running off him it could be really effective. .
  12. would actually be one of my preferred options to replace Torres, has all the physical attributes you want for the league but watching him closely his touch and technique is really good too, you just know hes going to score goals throughout his career because hes such a handful. Still really young so only going to improve. The only worry is the off the field stuff, but i think even for big money hes quite low risk in terms of his football ability and what he offers a team.
  13. if he has he's been hiding it for Spain too. although i fully expect him to back closer to his best than he has been for us.
  14. Im not sure i reckon maybe £15million is a fair price for him the main reason being he fits into the problem positions in our formation and is able to play 3 or 4 positions so is very versatile. He would give us a wide player with pace that can run with the ball and create. His assist stats are impressive at Villa most of their goals go through him. He can also play as a 2nd striker wide right, wide left so would cover a few positions and maybe allow us to get rid of a couple of high earning fringe players.
  15. The league position is also down to the players though and their performances, maybe if Torres hadn't sulked for most of the season he could have helped us get near to 4th place. The right thing to do would be to do your part to help get the team to where you want it to be, especially when your such a key part of that team. He's not the only player we have that wants to be playing in the CL and wants to be winning things but so far he's the only one that's chose to do a runner and leave the rest of his "team mates" without one of their best players until the end of the season. Leaving everyone in the lurch because of the timing of it all.
  16. Young was a possible signing whether Torres went or not, hes been under consideration for a while. He wouldn't be bought to replace Torres.
  17. hearing we've bid £10 million for Adam by the way, have no idea how accurate that is and its probably a little more than id have paid but hey ho.
  18. doesn't matter no one will beat Barcelona and there are at least another 3-4 teams that are better.
  19. wont it be more difficult to do that with the new financial rules??
  20. gonna be sweet watching them get knocked out of the cl this season...
  21. cant see how either would fit into their wage structure
  22. Kuyt used to be a decent forward...
  23. you'd think so wouldn't you, unless they've concluded having an unhappy player is not worth the hassle. Otherwise their doing exactly what Torres wants, and exactly what Chelsea wants and the worst thing for the rest of our season.
  24. probably just making sure they get more money for him when they do sell him, Increasing his release clause etc...
  25. spurs are gambling big style because as it stands they won't get CL football next season and that's a big problem when you've assembled a good squad like they have. Will Modric, Bale stick around with no CL football if really big teams come for them?? also because of their wage structure these players will be offered huge wage increases should they move.
