If the Adam news is true then Kenny must have big plans for him cos it wouldn't really hurt us to have waited until the end of the season.
-
think its 2012 but once you get into the last 18months if the player wants to go their value drops quite a lot. It makes sense for Blackpool to keep him until the end of this season cos it will make them a lot of money if they don't get relegated and hes their most important player.
-
just saying its an option, think we'll be in for M'villa in the summer.
-
Gerrard could play the holding role if we're really stuffed hes started to do it for England and played really well there. Obviously your gonna miss his attacking threat from there, but Meireles gives us that and someone like Adam would to albeit in a different way.
-
I agree thats why i think we're in a pretty strong position, we don't need him in January we could easily walk away and wait. If we can get him on the cheap fair enough but if not the player now knows we're interested and if we waited his contract is another 6 months run down. The priority now is another attacking player and a left back lets sort that out first. If someone else comes in for Adam and we really want him fair enough but it probably suits us and Blackpool if we did it at the end of the season.
-
Hes only worth what someone else is prepared to pay, its not really a key signing for us so we could walk away or wait until next season i wonder how Adam would feel if it didn't happen?
-
apparently Blackpool have made a pretty derisory offer for Bradley Wright Phillips, wonder which journalist will be brave enough to highlight the double standards to Hollaway?? can't blame him Adam is such a key player for Blackpool these a decent chance they could get relegated without him and given the price of other players he should expect more. That signing isn't really a key one for January anyway with Gerrard back our central midfield is pretty strong, we should probably wait until the end of the season when his contract would be running down and we could probably get him for close to £5million.

Suarez can play in those wide attacking positions and given the comments from Comolli about Torres playing best on his own i doubt he'd be signed to play as a partner to Torres. But as we saw yesterday the key is getting men forward in support of Torres, yesterday we constantly had 4 sometimes 5 players in the opposition box when we attacked and thats important. Something like... ..................................Lucas............................... ....................Meireles................Gerrard.............. ??.............................Torres...................Suarez if we did sign Adam you could even play Adam where Gerrard is and Gerrard on the right.

Been thinking about that myself, i think Adam is the type of player that needs to play regularly to keep sharp ive read a few articles from when he was younger and hes always had trouble with his weight, but the problems only really arise when hes not playing regularly. I guess it brings up the old argument of playing Stevie on the right, i guess thats a no no now but a midfield 3 of Lucas sitting and Adam and Meireles in front of him with Stevie wide right has plenty of attacking potential. You only have to look at the impact Bale is having at Spurs to see you can still dominate a game playing in those wide positions.

Think N'zogbia is the better player and is a better fit for what we need. Hes a natural left footed left sided player, Young is a right footed player that can play on the left but he strikes me as someone that prefers to play centrally rather than out wide and we have plenty of players that can do that. The only doubt with N'zogbia is his attitude, and the worry that if he got a big move he'd think he'd made it and lose motivation. But ability wise he'd be a great signing.
-
it won't hurt thats for sure, maybe Kenny will be able to get through to him that to keep playing to a high level he must miss the odd game from time to time. Its usually not a great idea to keep changing the back four but i don't think Carragher can play every week and keep that high level any more.
-
no offence to Lens but im guessing hed at least double his wages if he moved.
-
apparently he always does that, a bit like Kuyt.

The problem under Hodgson is we were inviting teams onto us and that exposed the weaknesses we have in defence, under Kenny it looks like attack will be the best form of defence, hopefully that means we face less pressure and teams can't throw as many men forward against us because we'll be more of an attacking threat. We still need better individual defenders especially at centre back and left back but the priorities are in the attacking positions at the moment and if we're more of an attacking threat that should ease the pressure on the defence. Id be inclined to try Kelly at CB too while Carraghers still injured, with Johnson right back and Aurellio at left back. But if we are going to be more offensive we need more defenders like Agger who are comfortable in those 1 on 1 situations and we need Lucas to continue to develop into a top class holding midfielder that can plug the gaps.

did i miss a meeting??

£250 wondered where it came from when i checked it was from backing Roy to be the next PL manager sacked @ 6/4 when it looked like he was going a few weeks before he actually did!!! So if you placed the same bet and forgot about it go check your accounts you might get a nice surprise!!
-
Gotta think that'll happen probably for £5million, wouldn't be disappointed, plays a similar way to Alonso (obviously not as good) but hes a great passer and would suit a more pass and move style of play. Hopefully we also sign 1 or 2 players with pace that can get the best from his passing. In the games we've played against Blackpool this season none of our midfielders have been able to get anywhere near him.
-
whether you rate Alves or not the point is we've missed out on some very good players for the sake of paying a little extra. Alves would certainly be worth more than the £12million or whatever Sevilla were asking for him in todays market.. With proven young players you probably will have to pay over the odds for them but you have that safety net of their age so you could sell them on if it didn't work out. Of course you don't want to get ripped off, but halfway through the season teams aren't going to sell you their best players for peanuts.
-
Hope we don't end up losing another top quality player over a couple of million. I know you don't want to get ripped off but sometimes especially mid season your gonna have to pay slightly more than you should, but if its a top quality young player like Suarez theres always re-sell value if it doesn't work out because of his age. We lost out on Alves and David Silva because we weren't prepared to go an extra few million hope it doesn't happen again.
-
but if it means we get rid of PFK???
-
His timing and turn of phrase is pure Brent or Patridge, even the funniest comedians couldn't write stuff that funny!!
-
This is the first transfer window they've had so lets give them a chance. They've invested in players at the Red Sox so i don't see why they wouldn't here providing the right player is available at the right price.
-
Hopefully for us they don't because his value has probably gone past £13million to Italian clubs given hes done pretty well at Juve.
-
Don't forget we have the Aquilani money, i know a lot of people would rather we kept him but thats £13 million i think from Juve.
