Makes me laugh all this, in attempts to justify outlandish claims we have posters on here putting down for all to see 1) The squad that won the CL in 2005 weren't actually good enough to win it. 2) CL winning, WC finalist, 1st name on the German teamsheet Didi wasn't top notch/World class but Lucas, Agger, Babel are all potential world class, Alonso and Carragher are now World class but they weren't then. 3) Baros was s**** because apart from running round loads like a headless chicken - very quickly - he had nothing else, while Kuyt who apart from running round like a headless chicken - very slowly - has nothing else, is a very valuable member of our current massively superor squad fighting it out with Everton for 4th place just like we were then. 4) And this is the killer for me - Voronin isn't s***!!!!!!! All bulls*** aside I'm not saying we aren't better than 2005, by christ we should be with the addition of Reina, Agger, Mascherano, Babel and Torres there's over £60M spent on players there. But our fullbacks are arguable worse then they were then, is Pennant/Yossi any better than EHD/Smicer? Is Kuyt/Voronin any better than Cisse/Baros? You can't have a point on here - you either have your tongue so far up Rafa's @rse you go blind or you get posters trying to shout you down and making ridiculous claims that can't be backed up.

We're still short at fullback and outwide, strikers, CM GK, CB's all top notch by the way. Thirdly £25M NET equates to almost £50M gross and yes you can get 3 top class players for £50M even today.

If this system works with Babel and Kuyt playing, and then the manager rotates them for Pennant and Kewell and the system doesn't work is that the managers fault? Or if he plays Pennant and Voronin, which he has, and it doesn't work is that the managers fault? And when the manager has bought the players that aren't good enough to play in the system that he supposedly bought them to play in is that the managers fault? And when the manager insists on buying his usual 6 or 7 players in the Summer because he likes a big squad instead of buying 2 or 3 top quality players, and those 6 or 7 £5-7M players aren't good enough to play in the managers favourite system is that the managers fault?

I brought him up as an example of Rafa's record signing more expensive players, I added the bit about me wanting him as first choice because most posters on here wanted Eto'o, Eto'o, Villa etc - and I think its amusing that these people are now trumpeting his success when they didn't want him in the first place. So would anyone, there's factual evidence that Mourinho can win league titles and CL's producing sides with very few resources because he has done so. There is no factual evidence that Rafa can win the PL with loads of money - absolutely none its all opinion. Rafa has spent £20M once on Torres, total success, (I could add that I was one of the few who wanted him as 1st choice while you were all w***ing over Eto'o). He has spent £10M+ 3 times I think, Alonso, Kuyt and Babel - 1 success, 1 maybe, 1 failure. Thats hardly "because pretty much every time he's spent big on a player, they've become a bargain and a superb player. " You're all getting carried away with trying to bully Ant.

Mourinho won the CL with less resources than Rafa. Could you provide examples of what evidence there could be that "there is no evidence that Rafa wouldn't have won the league gives the massive resources Chelsea had under Mourinho. as there is also no evidence that Ant wouldn't have won the league in those circumstances either.

Voronin must never wear our shirt again, total loss as a player and a waste of wages - get rid and give one of the kids his place as in our current 4/5/1 - 4/3/3 we don't need a 4th striker anyway.

The team picks tself apart from the 2 fullback positions, no way should we split up Carra and Skrtel as CB's. I think he'll go for Riise at LB as he usually does alright against United and Chelsea, and would think Arbeloa gets it at RB, not least because he's reasonably quick. There's no chance he will drop Kuyt against United and play Yossi, why would he do it now?

The thing for me is that two realistically priced new fullbacks, Sagna price up to £10M each, will make a world of difference to our attacking play whereas two £10M wingers/strikers probably won't.

Owen before his injuries took their toll was a genuine World Class striker, he was the ultimate big game player, always gave 100% and scared defenders to death - all at a very young age. Fowler was never World Class, never really international class, but he's a legend with the fans. Torres could end up being better than owen ever was, some feat that, but to suggest it after 2/3 of his first season is not only ridiculous but bloody insulting to the other two. FWIW I think Torres is as good as anyone in the World right now, but he needs to do it for a couple of seasons more before he gets compared to Owen and Fowler. Rush was better than all 3 of them by the way.

I know this has been done to death on here, but it may as well be anyway as the club is the only asset of KOP. Big F'ing deal that on paper we're not liable for £245M, but if we're not then who is exactly?

Two days ago people on here, supposedley in the know, were saying that for a variety of reasons Hicks couldn't raise the capital to buy out Gillett or match any offer made to him by DIC. Today apparently he has raised the money and is "quietly negotiating" for the sale. As for 'demanding more money if he owns it all' - as DIC think his valuation of 50% of the club is in dreamland, why on Earth would they suddenly agree to pay twice it for 100%?? Assuming Hicks gets GG's share how on Earth does he borrow even more money to build the stadium - which if we all remember was the main reason for Moores selling.

Which also means that when we reach an agreement on his outstanding contract we'll have to pay him more to go????? What if he says "No thanks I'll stick this one out til the end ta" ??

Hicks is all over the Worlds media claiming that Gilett can't sell to anyone else without his approval.....and GG says nothing????? Hicks is apparently a succesful businessman and must be seen to do all this posturing to protect his future standing etc, but Gilett says nothing despite Hicks basically saying he's Hick's bitch??? I so want to believe that we're seing the end of these two carpetbaggers but I seriously doubt it.

I always considered that to be an internet fact though, not actually true in the real world.
