    Steven Gerrard

We should no more sell him than United should sell Ronaldo, Arsenal should sell Fabregas etc He's an awesome footballer - anyone who can't see that in spite of all the evidence shoud be detained under the mental health act.

    Sack Him Now!

Christ almighty - that may well be the worst single line ever posted on here.

    Agreed.

    Sack Him Now!

I have to say that, for the first time, I am having my doubts. The comparison with Mourinho last season (open warfare, injuries to some key players) could not be more stark. They were still in with a shot of the title in late April - we were basically out of it in early December. Some of the players aren't good enough - that goes without saying and everyone knows who they are - but there is a really, really horrible lack of pattern, ability to move the ball, movement off the ball and ability to create chances in our team. Rafa has to carry the can for that.
  6. I disagree. I think its easy to see we are heading for 4th or 5th.

    Too many passengers

Different game, same thought. (Hopefully mockering).
  8. I would rather have one and lose it than never have one at all. In terms of issuing new tickets by ballot that would be fine, I think the system could fairly easily be designed to stop it being taken up by businesses - for a start a minimum number of years on the waiting list could be required. Incidentally I don't resent current ST holders but nor do I think that a ST should be something that is a right to be retained for decades. There's a slightly weird view on here that ST holders are to be admired for their commitment to the cause even though there are 70,000 people who are desperate to show that same commitment. Personally it would seem to me to be more equitable for four people to have the chance of having an ST for 5 years each than 1 person to have it for 20.
  9. In fact the reason I wasn't buying an ST in 1992 was because I didn't have the means to pay for one. Once I started earning money at 18 (1995) I went on the list. I suspect that that similar situations apply to many thousands on the list. Your characterisation of everyone who has a ST as being a loyal super-fan and the entire waiting list being made up of Johnny come latelies is absurd. It seems to me that having had a ST 20 years does not make one any more loyal or dedicated than many thousands on the list now who are phoning/writing/going on e-season ticket/going to the ticket office trying to get tickets. The ground over the last few years (on all but a few special occasions) has hardly been a cauldron of noise - hence RTK etc. You can blame that on corporate fans all you want but there's a lot of ST holders I know who sit very quietly bar the odd moan. I am neither rich nor have rich mates either by the way. My point about cost was based on the IMO unarguable view that prices are artificially low and the club could charge more for them and still easily fill the allocation.
  10. You accused the posts of no logic. There is a clear logic to both points. Then you accused them of being ridiculous because you disagree with them. So far you've failed to engage or to show that the points are illogical or ridiculous. You're also throwing round assertions about how many people would take up tickets without showing any evidence whatsoever. By the way, a large proportion of posts you write sound superior and know it all. It must be frustrating that no-one knows as much as you or has your prodigious intelligence.
  11. Pennant is nowhere near good enough to be a regular for a side with aspirations of the title. I didn't understand at the time why so many wanted to sign him, I understand less now.
  12. Unusual to see from you a somewhat superior and pseudo-magisterial tone. I would have thought the logic behind the two points was relatively clear... 1.) There are many thousands of people who would commit to a season ticket - far more than get one. An equitable allocation of resources in such an instance would arguably be a lottery, rather than the present monopoly of those who have an ST for time immemorial. 2.) Raising prices. Simple supply and demand says that prices should rise. In fact arguably the club is holding prices artificially low - I don't doubt for a second they could stick 50% on ST prices and demand would still exceed supply.
  13. First time for everything.
  14. I know I was
  15. I have been on the waiting list since 1995 or so. To be honest it's starting to piss me off that the same people get a season ticket year after year. IMO the club should reward the absolutely most loyal (the ones who go away everywhere etc) by giving them the right to a ticket every year. As for the rest, it would be far more equitable in my view were a certain % or all other season tickets to go in a lottery every year. Or the club could just raise the prices a fair bit. Bet those will be popular suggestions...
  16. The business model was so good it convinced two banks during a credit crunch - which itself was caused by banks believing in two unsustainable 'business models' (CDOs and sub-prime borrowers).
  17. And Pirlo too, we're short at centre midfield and there are not other areas where we need players...
  18. Arsenal according to the guardian.
  19. Reminds me of my favourite McAteer story. Going into Russia he has to fill out an immigration form. Asks for his position in the company he works for. McAteer puts down "right back".
  20. That the owners aren't hanging from the top of the Kop.
  21. That is a disaster. IMO it is now clear that Gerrard is going to be at centre mid for the rest of his career. That being the case I really think that Masch is by far the best partner for him and it also allows the full backs to push on a bit more. Xabi - who is idolised byond all reason on here - would have been far better to lose than him.

    Gerrard's car

    Spare £47k? Nice car
  23. You are missing, I think: 1) The difference between an investor and a settler 2) The fact that in the scenario above you make £100k profit on one option, £50k on the other
  24. I agree. Ideally finding a way (e.g. on an ad-van etc) of showing it outside Anfield would be useful too.

Would you say it would be carnage?
