Rafa Benitez hopes to fine tune his side in the summer in order to put in a concerted title bid next season. The popular Spanish tactician has seen his side fall short this season as they currently trail Chelsea and Manchester United in third place. A heavy close-season of spending is predicted at Anfield and Benitez admits he needs to make changes if they are to compete at the top of the table. It is widely believed that a striker and a central defender top Benitez's wish list but it remains to be seen which new faces will arrive on Merseyside for next term. ''If you have a car and win a race, you cannot just settle for that,'' said Benitez. ''You must try and make the car better. We're a good car but you always want a bigger engine. ''You do that by signing the players we need and improving the players we have. The spirit is good but always you can improve the physical condition and work on tactics. ''I'd like to see the team progressing next year. Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United will improve - so we've got to as well.'' LOL

Suppose if it's going to happen now is the time we'll soon find out.

Don't care where you come from as long as you support the reds that's all that matters for me.

Momo, a good shout for young player of the year??

Hope nobody takes offfence but I can't help but think it's total b******s

Well said mate. Some utter w*****s on here.

He should be able too start scoring again soon.

3 o'clock news saying,Lfc will not receive funding from nwda, objective 1, till it can confirm it has backers in place to pay for the stadium. So no investment the deal is off Lfc spokesman said they are saying nothing, yet.

11 o'clock news on radio Merseyside has just had a councillor on condemning the NWDA over the time they are taking. Also said the objective funding that had been put in place would be withdrawn if no concrete plans were in place by mid April.

yes

Great post Just my opinion now "it won?t go ahead" And as you say the whole debate is 'convoluted'

There?s that much info in the public domain now about this you still want to go over and over it. See my original post that I do not believe a new stadium will be built, not got time for a Paul Tompkins style debate. We need it, but..............

You need to compete Unless you have a magic wand Suppose you cant see that, your problem.

Never heard of him

Thought Kewell had a good game myself

It's just my opinion I stand by it and let?s revisit in 10 years.
