  1. I don't think the press was referring to Arsenal's youth cup team either when they heaped praises on their youth. My post is in response to Flyod's post about the press overating their youth. As good as our youth cup team may be (i have never seen them play so i would accept the assessments of those of you who have), how many of you believe that they enough of them will fourish to make it in our first team? If there isn't, I think it is fair to say that arsenal has better younger players that can step up in the next 1 to 2 few years and mix it with the big boys. Thus they have better young players than we have. I have no problems with the press saying that.
  2. I think the league cup match between us and them pretty much sums up the standard of the young players in the 2 sides.
  3. You can't deny the fact that our Youth cup winning side are unlikely to play full strength Chelsea out of the park in a domestic cup final.

    David Villa

Really? Sadly for me, he is not threatening at all. In fact, it is painful to see the game whiz past him.

Not sure if we need three or four quality signing. We need one or two top notch signings. Not more I would think. ManU for example, their two outstanding players this season, Ronaldo and Giggs have single handedly won them at least 6 to 8 matches between the two of them. That would be enough to account for the gulf between us and them.

20 goals a season at the right price = David Trazeguet.
  7. Drogba cost that much only because Chelsea was after him. I bet you Cisse will cost that too if Chelsea was after him. That goes to show we know sh*t.

    kuyt

Kuyt weakness is exposed only by our lack of a 20+ goals a season striker. Some expect him to knock in a goal every 2 games. Maybe he will be in time to come, however from what I have seen so far, I don't think that is likely mainly because he is playing far too deep. His all round work is excellent but people don't rate him because they want a different player.
  9. I wasn't referring to you. Scroll up and you will see those comments.
  10. I sometimes marvel at the contrast of fortune. Drogba and cisse were both available. They were both top scorers (in fact cisse was first and Drogba 2nd I think) in the french league. We got Cisse and chelsea got Drogba. The rest is history.

    objectivity... refreshing...
  12. Objectivity is not your forte I guess...
  13. So you think ManU has a cr*p team?
  14. TBH, I don't think we are good enough. Of course, when we play to the best of our capabilities, we can beat anyone... but so can the likes of Man U, chelsea and Arsenal. Alas, no team can do that every single match. The difference is that ManU and Chelsea can beat their opponents when they are playing only 70% of their best but we can't. Their squad talent pool allows them the flexibility to be suboptimal yet win matches. Our squad don't. Is hardly surprising that we are doing better in the Champions League because we are up for it every single time.
  15. Bit like Fowler then.
  16. what a mess
  17. I won't write that off. with or without the Americans.
  18. Second that.
  19. Huth sigh of relief....
  20. "That news prompted an angry reaction from Sheikh Mohammed, who previously had taken only a passing interest in the takeover proposal by the private-equity investment arm of the Arab state. Sameer al-Ansari, the chief executive of DIC and a lifelong Liverpool supporter, hoped to revive the bid yesterday but the instruction came from the Sheikh, irked by the club?s approach to negotiations, that he was to pull out of the bidding process." If the above quotes from The Times is true, Sheikh Mohammed doesn't quite inspire confidence, does he?
  21. It is of course entirely possible that they DO have the details of Gillett's bid and understand that theirs is unfavourable by comparison. Makes sense to pull out before u get rejected...
  22. Then I think it is them that are unprofessional. And childish.
  23. I don't think it's a strop. It is likely that they have receive enough input to know that their current offer does not stand a chance in the light of Gillett's offer. It's a good damage control. It also takes the bargaining chip out of LFC.
