from AS with dreadful babelfish translation. its arsenal throwing in reyes which worries me THE ARSENAL WANTS THAT THEIR NEW HENRY IS TOWERS England walks scrambled with Towers. The Liverpool has to him noticeable with a cross and could close its draftee the next week, when it travels to Madrid to negotiate. And now it appears in scene the Arsenal, that after selling Henry a new forward looks for stars. The Premier waits for the Boy. Fernando Towers, The Kid, is the center of attention of English soccer. When the Liverpool promised them very happy, knowing that if appeared in Madrid the week that comes with 36 million would return to house with the end, a rival has left him weight: the Arsenal. The sale of Henry to the Barça by 27 million locates to gunners in a privileged situation to seduce the Boy: without front center and with much money to buy one. In favor of the Londoners it plays that Wenger has been the great pretendiente of Towers during the last years. Nevertheless, the refusal of the Boy to leave the Atleti frustrated all its approaches. But this summer is different and the air change, than more probable. So the Arsenal will move card in the next hours. In England they assure that Wenger already has tied a young unknown Brazilian forward, but who also will try to file to a star to cover the hollow of Henry. And the chosen one is Towers. As much the Athletic one as the soccer player the hands rub before the irruption of the Arsenal in bids up it. The plan of the Liverpool is to come to Madrid the week that comes with the money and to negotiate to try to lower the price of the draftee, perhaps including a Luis Garci'a in the operation, alternative that does not convince in the Manzanres. Nevertheless, now a rival with fresh money and a player like Reyes have left them whom yes much to the Athletic one interests. So 36 million will be almost unremovable.

from the sunday express, LIVERPOOL boss Rafa Benitez has rejected the chance to give England striker Michael Owen an Anfield return. Newcastle were prepared to trade Owen for two Liverpool players – striker Craig Bellamy and left-back John Arne Riise. But Benitez ruled out a deal for Owen, which would also have taken Bellamy back to Tyneside. However, Owen could still be on the move – with Manchester City and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger also interested in the 27-year-old striker. RAFA BLOCKS OWEN MOVE

God knows how reliablee this is from the NOTW but it does corroborate elisha's 18 million fee NOTW Rafa Kops Torres LIVERPOOL will this week smash their transfer record and complete the £25million signing of Atletico Madrid superstar Fernando Torres. Sport of the World can reveal the two clubs have agreed a fee in principle and all that remains for Kop boss Rafa Benitez is to agree terms with Torres. The Spain ace is on a £5.1million a year contract with Atletico and will expect at least the same terms from Liverpool. Torres' people have been told that Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry will open talks with them next week to conclude a deal. A source close to 23-year-old Torres told Sport of the World: "We are expecting a call from Mr Parry next week to discuss personal terms. And although for Fernando it is heartbreaking to leave Atletico, the club he's loved all his life, the prospect of playing for Liverpool fills him with pride hope and great expectations." The massive fee eclipses the £14million Gerard Houllier had splashed on Kop flop Djibril Cisse. Atletico Madrid have accepted a bid slightly lower than Torres' £28m get-out clause and are desperate to clinch the signing of Diego Forlan from Villareal to replace their talisman. The Reds will definitely pay £18million in cash and it remains to be see whether Luis Garcia will be part of the deal. One thing is for certain, Garcia's Liverpool career is over after three seasons at Anfield. He's keen to return to Spain and Benitez will not stand in his way - even though Garcia's recovery from a knee injury that kept him out most of this season could determine whether he completes the move to Atletico where he played a season in 2003. It means Benitez will have spent half of his £50million warchest to finally land a big-name star to take Liverpool to the next level. The Kop chief will now turn his attentions to his pursuit of Lyon's Florent Malouda - even though the Frenchman wants to join Chelsea. Benitez - who wants to offload hothead Craig Bellamy - is set to rekindle his interest in Portugal and Benfica star Simao.

this is true. on a scale of 1 - 10 what are are chances of landing him!

26 million now you have to tell us who has cost us that
-
he didnt quite say that, i heard the interview on newstalk also. he was totally speculating about henry's injury, he didnt profess to have any inside knowledge. he couldn't even confirm the transfer other than saying hed rang some media mates who said its true. he also repeated what la porta said about hoping to keep eto at the club, la porta never said eto couldnt leave. he also said he thinks if anyone will go it will be ronaldinho which is bizarre.. dubliner
-
i might buy him for my garden
-
they reckon on the arsenal forums that henry had a 16M buy out clause interesting if true. wonder if any of our lads do
-
dont buy the fabregas mates thing. but the reyes plus 16M is a fair point. and the london factor is always prevalent. i still think the fact that we are a stronger team, and the rafa factor is much more attractive
-
not only is bent over priced henry at 16M is a snip. i dont care if hes 30, hes still one of the worlds best players, and in this day and age players can last well into their 30's. if i was a gooner id be livid at the price. no way they will get torres, they dont have the cash. he wouldnt want to go there anyway. i think wenger will leave now, how can he turn down real madrid if they come knocking
-
Thierry Henry = 16M Darren Bent = 17M
-
probably, but id say we were interested. although he never would have come to us
-
who says we werent in for him

Prentice welcomes shearers slander of Bellamy

yes, the reason being were not in for ronaldinho

yes, i dont think there is any doubt that athletico will win the intertoto barring an anomoly. but uefa cup should not be enough to keep him athletico. its about as important as the carling cup these days. its tearing him away from his boyhood club is the problem but if he has nay ambition he would want to join rafa's revolution. negotiating with athletico for their captain and most loved player will never happen quickly, but i think it will happen. not based on any information other than what ballague has said at least carson is staying. im glad were keeping him. hes a very good keeper. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...070622-1410.htm Rafa Benitez has told Scott Carson he'll be back at Liverpool next season and has challenged the young stopper to oust current number one Pepe Reina. Carson, who has just set a new record for England Under-21 caps, spent last season on loan at Charlton, where he was voted player of the year. Benitez said: "I was speaking to Scott recently and I told him he will be part of our first-team squad next season. "He must fight with Pepe Reina now for a starting place. We knew when we fought off Chelsea to sign him he was a talented goalkeeper. "He got some good experience last season and now he is coming back to us."

i dont think we would have made a bid if we didnt think he wanted to come. rafa or our other spanish contingent would defo have heard from the man himself or his agent if he was interested prior to launching a bid. this guy is a hero in athletico and there will be a lot of posturing before he eventually leaves i think. both sides will want the fans to think he wants to say. our problem is that we cant activate the clause unless we offer straight cash, which isnt going to happen. unless we sell garcia elsewhere for the cash. this one will drag on and on i suspect
