Gerrard signed that new contract because he had just captained his team to the biggest one of them all. No promises were needed. We don't know that he's conned rafa. If rafa does feel like he's been messed about then i expect him to walk. What evidence is there that he is though?
Now that Owen isn't coming here, how can you read stuff like and deny that there was a "spectre of michael owen" hanging round the club. there's other stuff too. I hope it's been removed now but he's got that bloody clause.
invariably we won't though. They did alright in a few home games but away i didn't like it. Hamann has to do things which aren't natural to him. See that b'bun away game we should have pissed on them but they lost control of the middle of the park. Emerton running josemi ragged didn't help as well. Sissoko seems a natural gerrard replacement and it's gerrard who's missing. He's also been our second best player since his arrival so why take him out. Posts merged: that's true but we threaten to go nowhere sometimes. look at the game v TNS away before gerrard came on
It was from the Swan Red school of if someone says something wildly innacurate you can just turn around and say b0ll0x. How you figure we wouldn't have bought crouch had we known owen was available earlier is anyone's guess. The manager said that one of our main problems away from hom was holding the ball up. Bringing Owen in would have solved that a treat I suppose. Buying Owen instead of Crouch would have been the ultimate example of SyNe BiG nAyMeS!!!
yeah but he's playing badly independently of what is going on around him at least i hope he is because if that's his "a" game minus a few headers then he's screwed
yeah but i disagree with him that supporter expectations going up has any bearing. It's about what the Real Board are thinking. The papers didn't always have us favourites. And even when they shifted us to favourites it was from the perspective that we could get him if we want him but we don't really want to.
I'm not sure i like owen up top by himself as he can't really offer the "outball" that Cisse can with his pace or Crouch can with his physical attributes. Everything is going to have to be very precise if he is the lone striker.
thread pages on t'internet don't count in the real world and the last time i checked the media were going apopletic at the fact our manager doesn't want Michael Owen
I don't know how this thread has got so big. It's so so soooooo obvious he's coming home from his statement. That's as undiplomatic as Owen gets but that is clearly him saying to Real "it's Liverpool or nothing". The story of the Newcastle bid is posturing to the extreme. Everyone should just relax. It's going to happen.
but are you at least now accepting that the quotes rafa gave can only be interpreted as us saying "we don't want a centre-forward" and it's not a sky conspiracy?
Rafa said this You can't get more unequivocal than that. That's not to say that you should believe him but it's there in black and white. They can't change that quote to something else. They're actually helping rafa send the message to Madrid that we are not desperate
If you read what rafa said on Owen and then take it at face value then Sky have reported exactly the right thing. Do you want them to report the opposite of what he says. He's deliberately feeding them that line so why get pissed off with them for reporting what he wants them to. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It really wouldn't be that hard to find extremely similar quotes about Baros would it.
I think Owen bristles with professional pride. And according to some the major major reason for his return is his wife. So maybe if it were up to him he'd stay Posts merged: didn't see the other one. Can you close this please?
