oh, but I enjoyed that - specially the St Etienne game which I was at with my old friend Pete Leavesley and his brother in law. First time I've seen that since getting home from the game just in time to watch the highlights - seen clips since, but not such full clips. I could almost see the steam rising from the dampening overcoats, the smell of woodbines and the sheer crush and sway of the crowd as we followed the action to get a better view.

On this day of days it just seems an even more pertinent memory, that day 29 years ago in the game that shaped the history to come.

Yes, Murph it is...scary innit? When you start to think and quantify it, it was such a different world than the one we live in now and through no fault of their own, the younger forum members have no idea what life in Liverpool or anywhere else was like at the time - so much was so grim, that nights like the one in question really did light you up for ages, which is why old farts like us savour that day and a few others a bit like it.

If I remember right, my ticket for the paddock (you could walk down to the bottom at the front, which we did, not far from the dugout) cost about £2:00 give or take. The bus fair on the 15D from Kirkby (in those days on the old green and cream double deckers with conductors and before return tickets, and with arl dockers filling the upstairs with their woodies, capstan and senior service) was 30p each way. Get off at Breckie Road shops and walk the rest.

Anybody know if there's a torrent of this anywhere? I missed it and maxxed is in a funny state at the mo so i can't find it in the usual place.

Not sure if you've got sky but these shows are on fairly regularly on channel 442 - tonight is the 7-0 v Spurs from 78 and tomorrow is us v the Mancs when beardsley got a hat-trick.

Otherwise both the st etienne and history programmes are on at various times in the early hours... just a case of checking the listings or ESPN's tv listings page...
