Why did people look so old so young back then?

How come everyone is suited and booted in them pics? Was that the standard dress code to greet the team back in the 60's?

no, that's just the way people dressed back then - the concept of 'teenagers' was still quite new and anyone not 'smartly dressed' was labelled a 'beatnik', sent home from work, school - even losing their jobs.

 

On a side note - In one of the pics on the first page, as they are\leaving Lime Street station, you can just see the old 'Punch and Judy' caff in the background...used to have lunch there loads - great fry ups in the days before anyone knew what cholesterol was!

Aye - we got two extra days off from school that year, this was the second, Churchill's funeral was the first.
