Dublinred4ever Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 When he was being sold by PSG and United were on the brink of signing him, what was the fee that was being speculated on? The reason I ask is I seem to recall it was quite reasonable in relation to what his current value might be.
Swipe Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 (edited) I thought it was £18m - and this site seems to confirm that: http://www.sportnetwork.net/main/s237/st28542.htm Not sure if that was their last bid though. Edited March 26, 2006 by Swipe
Ombudsam Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Started off at £9mill and kept going up eventually hitting something like £20mill. Before the WC ged said that ronaldinho was going to go on to be the new maradonna. So then he bought Diouf.
Maldini Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I remember that. Cheyrou, diao and diouf or fecking goofy. Cudos to him for calling it at a time when few else even contemplated the thought. You say that as if it was a straight choice. Ronaldinho would never have come here. He was also only one of the many many people to make the same comparison about Ronaldinho.
mickdundee Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 To be fair, the way we were playing at that time I don't think we would of got the best out of him. Sure glad he did't go united though.

I realise he probably wouldn't have come, but hey, he persuaded VDV and there was 'no way in a million years a player like that would want to sign for us' .
Swipe Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 It was pretty clear from the off that Ronaldinho was going to be something special.
Ronnie Whelan Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I was playing a five-a-side game after the chav-barca game at stamford bridge last season. Everyone was still talking about Ronaldinhos' goal. I said to a manc mate of mine that i was glad Ronaldinho didnt sign for them. "Im not" he said, "we got Ronaldo instead". Didnt get to play the football, i had a stitch from laughing.
ManxRed Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 What the Hell would Man Utd want with him now? They've won the Big One* without him FFS... * The Carling Cup
