Andy Mac Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I re-read Brave New World recently and it got me to a?thinkin?. If you had the choice (which obviously didn?t happen in Aldous Huxley?s book) of being pre-conditioned to live the life you are living now OR the life George Best had. The footie skills, the adulation, the booze, sex etc , etc. Which one would you choose? For me, I?d choose the one I?m living now. The reasons: The lifestyle Georgie boy had was obviously a tortured one, especially having to cope with his addictions and constantly living a life that dealt with past glories. But the real clincher for me would be having to live with the negative impact I would have on those around me. Seeing his sister; his dad; ex wife and son; etc. I don?t think I could live with seeing the pity in other people?s eyes when they looked at me as they did with George Best. What would you choose? and why?
