Thought the same when Utd played Chelsea but it never happened then either. I think the difference is against the top sides Utd are set up to stop the opposition playing rather than being productive themselves and anyone thats played any football will know its so much easier to play when your job is simply to stop the opposition from playing.

 

As we've seen from Utd against teams they expect to beat when you ask guys like Smith or Fletcher or O'Shea to be creative and force the play they're clueless, today they just had to stop our guys from playing and they did a decent job.

 

That said a quality finisher and we would have sneaked that game.

Crouch can hardly be criticised in the same breath as Cisse because Cisse did nothing to help Crouch at all. He was getting in the way, not showing any intelligence, not holding the ball, not closing it down. Cisse was fecking awful

One of the worst parts of Cisse's game today was that he was going for the passes intended for Crouch instead of dropping off for the knock down or running in behind for the flick on.

Clueless.

 

I thought we were paying too much for him at £14m and then got caught up in some Carnage loblocks...never again He hasn't improved in 18 months since he arrived and that is why he'll be sold in the summer.

 

I hope he goes to the World Cup and gets the Golden Boot.

Reina - 6 Got a great hand to the s***houses header really unlucky. Other than that good sweeping up and had little to do.

 

Finnan - 7 - Gave away the free kick for the goal but I thought played very well. A little shy going forward.

 

Hyypia and Carragher. - 6 Thought they did ok. Some dreadful passing at times from the back. Looked a little nervous.

 

Risse - 6 Got caught for pace on a couple of occasions but defended weel and threw in a couple of great crosses.

 

Kewell - 6 Tried his best but didn't really spark.

 

Mommo - 6 - Woeful passing at first but got better as the game went on. Some good tackling and interceptions.

 

Gerrard - 5 - For him he was way off.

 

Alonso - 6 - Never stamped his authority on the game and passing was average.

 

Crouch - 7 Showed how well we were doing with him on cause as soon as he was off we went into a shell.

 

Cisse - 3 Terrible.

 

We looked terrified of losing. Wasted chances to shoot and got done by a sucker punch in the end. I hate them soo much.

Why such bad ratings?, we totally controlled the game, we made United play like an Away side for a large proportion of the game our players did almost exactly what was wanted of them. Sissoko and Alonso provided a excelent shield for the back four, the problem was Cisse wasn't getting hold of the ball and Crouch got nothing from the ref all day. Both Kewell and Gerrard rely on the forwards getting on the ball and alowing them to join in, that didn't happen today hence Gerrard and Kewell only ever got the ball from deep.

 

I we had won 1-0 I bet there would be a couple of nine's.

 

I'd give everyone 7 or 8 apart from Cisse who was terrible.

i don't like RVN but he created chances out of nothing and cisse wasted chances and stopped the team from playing...

Reina - 7

He has no chance at all to save the winning goal. Didn't make any major mistakes. In fact he didn't have an awful lot to do at all.

Finnan - 6

Made no real mistakes either. Did well when he was challenged, but I think he could have come forward a bit more often.

Riise - 6

Like Finnan.

Hyypiä - 7

Good performance. Controlled the United attackers together with Carra.

Carragher - 8

Solid performance. Liverpool's best on a day when not many players stood out from the other 21. Important to have a player like Carra in these matches.

Kewell - 6

Good effort before Cisse blasted his chance over the bar. I feel that was his contribution to the team.

Gerrard - 7

A disappointment. Ran alot, but didn't have the little extra we need in order to win such matches.

Sissoko - 5

I think he showed once again that he is not mature enough for playing in these premiership clashes. The pace of the game seems to make him make simple mistakes. Should have stayed away from Richardson after the early foul. Instead he was on thin ice for 70 minutes.

Alonso - 6

Made no real contribution to the game like I have seen him make before. Like Gerrard; important that a player like Xabi plays well in such matches.

Crouch - 5

Disappointing.

Cisse - 2

Simply doesn't have the brains to play at this level.

Riise 6 had no problems against a hopeless ManUre winger but was rubbish going forward. Crossing was crap too

 

Stevie 6 Didn't dominate the midfield as he should have, considering the hopeless opposition

 

Momo 6 was awful in the 1st half, improved in the 2nd. Good at breaking up the play

 

Xabi 6 nothing special today from Xabi

 

Kewell 6 not as good as recent displays

 

Crouch 6 did okay, shame he had to go off

 

Cisse 1 absolutely awful.

Just goes to show the fine line between success and failure, Mind you Alonso was very poor as well

Apart from Kewell that is the flatest we have been for ages. We looked jaded and tired. Our quality made us look like the better side, but they had far more energy. 5 for everyone except Kewell who gets 7 and Cisse gets a 1. Doesn't make him a bad player - just crap on the day.
