Bridge to White Hart Lane?

Tottenham 'make move for Bridge'

Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge could reportedly join Tottenham on loan.

Bridge, 25, is believed to be concerned that his lack of first-team football at Stamford Bridge could affect his England World Cup prospects.

And Spurs may also be ready to pay £7m for Bridge who has made just two appearances this season since returning from injury in October.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho does not want to lose Bridge, but is said to be prepared to loan him out.

Mourinho is keen to keep Bridge - a £7m capture from Southampton in July 2003 - happy.

The Blues huge lead at the top of the Premiership has given Mourinho some scope to manoeuvre and he is said to be prepared to loan Bridge out for the rest of the season to enhance his England chances.

Bridge has been unable to regain his first-team place since returning from an eight-month injury absence and has yet to start in the Premiership this season.

If Chelsea do decide to loan Bridge out, it would leave them with just Asier Del Horno as left-back, although they could re-shuffle their squad to cover

£7 million for Bridge? Unbelievable. Not a good defender at all. As you suggest, and building on Rafa's points, the cost of English mediocrity or inexperience is scandalous. £7 million being quoted for Dean Ashton is also crazy- not a full international, less than one season in the top division and not exactly setting the world alight in the Championship.
