'cördinator' is nonsense.

 

i've always thought that the hyphenated version made more sense, though i see PC's point about there being no such thing as an 'ordinator'.

I believe the New Yorker magazine has taken to spelling it with an umlaut....

That's no umlaut, by God ? that's a diaeresis. And there's another ?o? in front of it; the diaeresis tells you that the two vowels are to be pronounced separately, as in ?naïf?. They also reported that Bush got ?reëlected?.
