Wondered if anyone had any experience with a similar situation to us.

My son is in reception in a small village school. He's the only one in his class but they merge Reception, 1 and 2 into one class so he has older friends/socialising. He's been getting basically 1:1 tuition on his phonics and maths and is loving life there.

However, pupil numbers have been dropping - partly bad Ofsted a few years back, partly a new AT took over, partly a succession of heads, partly crap marketing, partly just a national fall in numbers. Some parents then jumped the gun and moved their kids locally.

We were told on Monday they only had 16 on roll next year so would be going to a one class structure. 1 teacher and "some TAs". I suspect the AT would be quite happy to see the school close. Some parents are already pulling their kids out for next year.

We really want the school to succeed but don't know what we can do. Can we complain to the DfE about the AT? Can the AT legally do this? I'm out of my depth really with AT stuff and primary setting.
