I know this was mentioned in one of the recent Wrap's and apologies if it should be in the book thread in the Genny, but I'm reading Simon Hughes' 'Red Machine - Liverpool FC in the 80s - The players stories' at the moment and it is just Mag-nificent. It's rare enough to find an intelligently written football book these days, rarer still to find one which is a biography (of sorts) of players lives that holds any interest at all, but to read a book about such a well known period of our football club's history, through the eyes of (in some cases) bit-part players and for that book to be fresh as a clichéd daisy is something special.

I'm just three chapters in - Brucie, Howard Gayle and Michael Robinson and their stories of the trouble they had settling into the club, the cliques in the dressing room, the way they were treated by management and fans, home and away, how they interacted with people in the city and little snippets about big BIG matches that were news to me is just fascinating. It's a brilliant book.

If you're looking for a Xmas pressie for the missus that she'll hate so you can then have it yerself, then this is right up there ....

Just listened to a couple of recent Citytalk Wraps that I'd missed. I'm not exactly the zeitgeist, am I?

I REALLY need to check out the Magazine.
