I recently returned a defective Seagate Barracude 2TB HD to Seagate and got a replacement drive, installed it and then the PC crashed, and again and again. Eventually in safe mode I was able to perform a long format and ran various tests, Chkdsk, seagate tools and no problems were found. However the PC still crashes every single time I bootup in anything other than safe mode and eventually in safe mode it will also crash - it can last anything from 2 minutes to 2 hours in safe mode but it will always crash.

I've updated codecs, video card drivers, audio drivers and removed a rake of programs from the PC but still no joy. Sometimes when presented with the option to reboot in safe mode the damn thing will crash even before I get to select an option out of safe mode, safe mode with networking or safe mode with command prompt.

Any advice on what could be wrong? The temps of the hard drives in the PC are all normal - i.e. about 35 degrees celsius, internal fans are working and I didnt install any software when I added the drive to the PC. It running Windows 7 and hasnt crashed in over a year prior to this. The 2TB drive is set up with NTFS and Master Boot Record - same as all other hard drives in the PC and all drives are running with the same device driver (same date) and when I search for an updated drive I get informed that the driver is up to date and the best available for my drive.
