Just seen that comment from OM about the Morning Star in the unhealthy food thread and it got me thinking, and seething.

I live in Brighton now, as a few of you may have guessed, and we are cursed with a few independent (i.e. Brighton based, not national) pub chains who have spent the last three years or more buying up proper boozers and Gastropubbing the sh*t out of them. Its like an increasing competition between them to come up with stupider poncey names for their pubs than the rest, come up with menus full of pretentious sh*t, and charge the most for a pint.

I walked past one a couple of weeks ago, and it said on a big sign outside 'Come on Thursdays and try our new Rustica Menu'.

Rustica menu????? What the f*ck are you thinking???

Can I have a cheese sandwich with my pint?

Can I feck, this is the genuine entry from their menu - Olde Sussex Cheddar and red onion marmalade sandwich. I kid you not. And it'll doubtless be on a f*cking 'ciabata' as well. They also do a venison pasty. And its not cheap.

The last time I went in I ordered a pint of cider and a small white wine, and it came to £9.75. How does that work?? Am I in the f*cking Ritz or something? No, I'm in your sh*tty pretentious pub with its Rustica Menu and red onion marmalade. You c*nts.

What happened to the actual real boozer that used to be here???

F*ck off, and take your rosemary jus with you you f*cking c*nts.

There'll be no pubs left in Brighton soon.
