The FSF have, as ever, produced a guide to Budapest ahead of Liverpool's match with Debrecen. A bit of local info, advice and all the usual stuff can be found here:

If anyone's got any questions about anything, from language to customs, laws, lager or ladies of the night, drop us an email at the link on the front page and we'll do what we can.

Cheers,

FSF

From "Brief Club History":

Debreceni gained promotion to the top flight of Hungarian football in 1993, and although relegated in 2002 they have never left the top flight, having purchased the right to continue in the top flight from a promoted club.

Haha. I wonder if you can purchase the right to win the title. [insert man united joke here].

I've had a good look on tinternet but for night life all the forums talk about is brasses and clubs with brasses etc

I want to know where the equivalent of the following places are:

The Grapes, Matthew St

Korova

The Bar and Grill

I'm going to send the email but I rate my chances of an adequate response as 1000000000000 to 1 (this in no way denigrates the magnificent work you people do, just commenting on how hard life is)

Got the email, you'll get a reply shortly.

Oh, and the guide has been updated with a bunch of new information (lots of local delicacies added to the Eating and Drinking bit, so you know what you're ordering).

Is a cool spot.

Yep, they're a small chain with 3 places in the city, all in the VIIth distrcit (Szimpla Kert is mentioned on our guide). Kind of alternative, bohemian and studenty, in a sort of 'Keiths on Lark Lane' sort of way.
