Oh much travelled people of the gennie

Looking to get away for a week in July/August, was thinking Italy/South of France.

The Mrs can't get off work due to work commitments so I have a 6 and 7 year old to bring along. Looking for somewhere nice, not hugely 'touristy' but close enough I can take the kiddies to keep them entertained.

Your help and tips, as ever, are greatly appreciated.
