Box office blunder could cost Tottenham tens of thousands of pounds

By Tom Hatten 1/02/2009

arsenal fans will get one over on Tottenham ahead of the north London derby next Sunday - because a box office blunder could cost the White Hart Lane outfit tens of thousands of pounds.

Spurs told arsenal tickets for the match would cost up to £37 and the Gunners sold their 3,500 allocation.

But the tickets should have been priced up to £47 - and now both clubs are attempting to retrieve the balance.

"arsenal have written to us to ask for another tenner but we've got our tickets and there is nothing they can do," said one arsenal fan.

"They're politely requesting we send more cash. We are politely declining.

"If they think we are going to hand over a tenner to that lot down the road they have got another think coming."

Irrespective of how much the tickets cost, it's an utter f***ing outrage that Spurs & Arsenal are writing to supporters asking them for £10 more. Two Premier League clubs with incredibly rich backers are asking for £35,000, as if that's going to make a hole in their budgets? Disgraceful.

If something is underpriced but not ridiculously so, isn't it consumer rules that the retailer has to honour that price?
