Ok, quick spin through the main points.

Went upto the match on Saturday and then endured a five hour journey back to London. Just made it back in time for a swift pint in a pub just outside Euston. It was chocca with students and I put my overnight bag down by my feet, then proceeded to walk out of the pub without the bag.

Half way home, I realised what I'd done, got in touch with the pub and they said they'd found the bag. Excellent. I said I'd be back on Monday evening to pick it up.

So Monday, after work, I traipse back to the pub only for them to tell me the bag is no longer there and they don't know where it is.

Now the bag had clothes, a spare pair of glasses and a few CDs I'd bought as presents in it.

So what do I do? I can only assume it's been nicked by someone, either customer or staff (although they said they had it behind the bar in a sort of ante room so that points to a member of staff). Can I claim on their insurance? do I have to get a crime number to do that? Do I need something in writing to say the defo had it?

Any advice would be gratefully received.
