Well i've been studying this race for weeks and picked 4 horses out, a couple which love soft going just in case we had a deluge of rain. Well it's certainly arrived and it's now Heavy at York with showers for most of the week

Pippa Green at 12's, Red Gala at 20's, Ajaan at 16's and Sanbuch at 12's all have chances but can be backed at similar prices on the day.

One to have a few quid on now is Wing Collar. He needs 5 horses to come out of the race before he gets in but i expect a fair few withdrawals because of the going / top weighted horses having other engagements at the meeting and Wing Collar loves soft going and York - a year he go he won a listed race in bottomless ground there, beating a horse who would go onto to run within 6 lengths of the great Yeats. If he gets in he'll be racing off only one pound higher mark. 34-1 on the exchanges ( 25-1 in the high street ) is worth a bit of beer money. If he gets in i reckon 16's is a more likely price

He's no star but in those conditions, he has to be backed.

A negative is that a 7 year old hasn't won this race for the last 10 years

Positives are the conditions and an excellent strike rate of getting in the first four ( for the each way money )
