Charity appeal - mine, not some celebrity git

I've just created a justgiving page for two 10K runs I'm doing later this year. The link is in my signature, and the plea reads something like this:

Here's the thing. A while back, someone suggested doing next year's London Marathon. I agreed.

It then occurred to me that I can barely run to the end of the drive, so decided I needed to get in training. And what better way to train than take part in a 10K run? Take part in TWO 10K runs of course!

On June 22, I will be taking part in the Run For All in Leeds, and two weeks later will be pounding the streets of London village.

The aim of this unprecedented level of physical activity is to raise money for the MS Society.

As some of you already know, I was diagnosed with the condition in 2006, and having now read up on the whys and the wherefores for this incurable condition . I've decided that while I still have the use of my legs, I should help my fellow sufferers.

So, dog in tow (the cats refuse to take part), I am training on an irregular basis ready for what promises to be a memorable, and probably painful, two weeks - but it will all be in vain without the dosh.

I have set a modest target - just £100 over the minimum the MS Society is requesting for the London 10K - in the hope it won't put too big a burden on my friends, family and associates .

It would be great if I could exceed my target - which is where you come in. Just a few pounds each will soon add up, and help to make a much-needed contribution to the MS Society's research. You don't have to give much, but please give something.

I was 33 when I was diagnosed with MS, and it is increasingly the case that I'm among the older people being hit by it.

More and more people under 30 are now being diagnosed, giving them a finite outlook on what should have been a full and fun existence.

So, please dig deep and donate your pennies and we can all bask in the warm glow of a job well done. Except Ostrich, who will bask in the glowing embers of hell, obviously
