A few of my friends are planning on a road trip to Switzerland to enjoy the footie, especially now that England aren't in it!

Is anyone else planning a similar sort of trip? I'm trying to book campsites and things but my German is a bit rusty! Can anyone recommend campsites?

Cheers

I was hoping to catch a game in Klagenfurt in Austria (Croatia v. Germany being the most attractive) because my girlfriend's mum owns a guesthouse in a village an hour or two down the road from there. Unfortunately, I have no idea about procuring tickets after UEFA already did their ballot thing.

Friends of mine say that tickets will be quite readily available at the grounds

How do they figure that one out, its not like they have the biggest stadiums in Austria and Switzerland?

Austria:

Vienna- 50000

Klagenfurth- 30000

Salzburg- 30000

Innsbruck- 30000

Switzerland:

Zurich- 30000

Basel- 42500

Bern- 32000

Geneva- 30000

Most stadiums have just been upgraded to meet the minimum criteria from UEFA for the Euros.

Then it depends what teams you want to see and when you are going to travel.

Here are the fixtures and venues.

Ah, cool. Think it might be worth being in that neck of the woods for the atmosphere anyhoo. Hmm.

That's why we're going. Will be in the right place for Switzerland Turkey and Netherlands France

Try these links. They're both in English as well, just in case your German is too rusty... ;)

Since England aren't there, it should be a great tournament.

Yep. Good football (hopefully!), and no endless media "Ingerland will definitely definitely definitely win it" b******s. The only downside might be having to deal with tv pundits probably jabbering on about how every team there would have been no match for England had they qualified, etc.

I have friend in Innsbruck and incidentally Sweden are playing two of their group games there

But it all depends on me getting tickets from the lottery at the Swedish FA. I will still be a student this summer and would not afford buying black market tickets.

My brother was out in Portugal for Euro 2004.

He went to the France v Greece QF game and bought a ticket for £10 less than face value.

Black market tickets are pretty easy to get for a good price, as long as the hosts and England are not involved

With Capello in charge it might actually be true

Thank god for seventy-seventh-choice-Steve

You think? In a 30k capacity stadium for Sweden-Spain? I fear that's a tough one...

The France v Greece game was a QF at Sporting Lisbon's stadium.

Loads of tickets left and the touts were practically giving them away before kick off.

Sportings stadium is about 45-50k capacity.

Spain v Sweden will be tougher, for sure.
