Ok, its all going to sound like prison slang to some of you but...

Me and my manc mate have another mate, also a manc, who is partially sighted. His mate is even more partially sighted - to you and me he's blind (B2 to those in the know) - but, good enough, the lad has recently bought himself a canal barge and after getting used to it, recently set off from his home in Oxford to spend the summer up in the North West. Took him ten days, on his todd, making his way up here with his telescope looking like Captain Cook, put-putting along with a cheery hello to everyone he passes, face all sunburnt and all dead chuffed with himself. Blind as a fookin bat and off he goes, clambering off to open the locks (he's only fallen in once) knowing full well people are pretty gobsmacked as he sets off again. Happy as Larry.

So my mate goes over to see him this avvy, they go for a bit of a ride out, they come to a lock and the other fella gets off and starts doing whatever it is they have to do to get it through. He shouts my mate to lob him the key onto the bank, the manc chucks it, it hits the wall and splash you barstad its in the feckin canal. The equivalent to your house keys and your car keys going down the grid. Only in this case the keys belong to a blind fella.

Does the manc dive in after them? No, he lets the other fella get in, the one who can't feckin see, while he phones me and asks me if can find out what he should do next - on the internet (he works for the council). He feels bad but its freezin and he's got his going out clobber on and the water looks horrible and...the other lad has been in there for half an hour but no joy finding his key yet. There's a feckin surprise.

So my request is this - if anyone lives near Chester can they go down to the canal and give the manc a kick in the knackers. Feckin mancs la...
