I have just been sent a job description from NYU that matches my research area/phd/teaching etc..

I'm in two minds whether or not to apply for it or not.

It's 1 yr post - visiting professor, with the possibility of another year..starting in Sept

My current situation:

I have just designed a new degree course to take off in Sept, I have a permanent (tenured) position in my uni at the mo. Just been made senior lecturer (with a nice pay rise to go with it).

Pros for current job:

stable job, good support in teaching & research, friends in job

Cons:

level of student we attract is poor, uni restructuring is getting under way so it's all change

Pros for NYU:

It's NYU, good to work in other unis/environments, ideal area, good for CV etc

Cons:

Its the US, temporary contract

--> does the adage: if it's not broken, don't try and fix it apply here? or am i being narrow-minded?
