Strikes me that this job has massive responsibilities and needs loads of knowledge and the ability to act calmly and quickly in high pressure situations. Only recently we've seen them save John Terry's life when he swallowed his tongue and stitch Vaughan's leg up when he split his artery. Along with this they deal with day to day injuries; rehabilitation programmes for players with serious injuries; they must be under pressure from managers etc to get their prize assets back on the pitch as soon as possible.

So what qualifications do they need to have? Medical degree? other related qualifications

Is there always a Doctor in the ground to support the physio ( at all levels of the professional game)

How much can a physio expect to earn?
