Strange superstitions

Was walking through town this morning and window cleaners had a couple of ladders right across the path and everyone was walking round them, instead of under them, and it got me thinking of weird or strange superstitions.

My ma is mad for weird ones; she is old school Irish Catholic afterall, which still has strong pagan traditions; like if you see a beetle on its back, turn it over or touching your collar when you see an ambulance or stirring your tea with a spoon anti-clockwise?

I`m not superstitious about anything, but I`m sure I probably do certain things on a subconscious level, as everyone has a certain degree of OCD/superstition.

Anyone out there have or know of strange superstitions?
