Stupid question regarding suicide bombings in Iraq

anymore that's defined in anyway? It all seems very grey compared to the actions taken. Every day huge numbers of people sacrafice themselves and their kin yet I never hear what their motives are anymore. It's just passed over as unimportant.

Who wants what and what do they need to get, to stop bombing eachother and get talking. I would have thought with the amount of death that this drive to destruction would eventually wind down but it's a brutal constant that doesn't seem to have an end!
