Going to Berlin over St.Paddy's weekend.

Long shot, but does anyone know if the Villa game is shown on telly in Germany?

If I go to see some stupid film about Jane Austen, then the girlfriend has agreed to "let me" watch Liverpool in a pub!

It could well be on Premiere. They show a lot of premiership matches and most that have it usually have little signs outside and calll themselves "sports pubs".

Unfortunately if the Bundesliga's on a t the same time, you've probably got no chance. :)

Like SteveT says, if the game is on Sky, it'll be on Premiere, but you'll have to check beforehand whether there's Bundesliga on at the same time.

Your best bet would be an Irish pub. Germans love them, so they're everywhere, and they usually have Sky, or if they have Premiere, they often show the English games over German ones.

Don't know Berlin myself, but you could do worse than start looking here:

Here in Wiesbaden there's a couple of places that tend to show English Premier League (from Sky, RTE or Premiere) on one screen and Bundesliga on the other.

TBH, I'd watch a lot more Bundesliga if they didn't use this 'Konferenz' option where it switches continually around the live matches. I can see why they do this - brings more customers in and you get to see all the goals almost live, but it's less interesting than watching a whole match, IMO.

Over on Rawk I'm trying to collate a list of places round the world where you can see the reds:

http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=120287.0

The idea is that it serves as a resource if people are travelling when a game is on. I used it myself recently when I had to be in Paris for Barcelona away.

Have nothing in Berlin at present although http://www.german-reds.de/ or http://www.anfield.de/ may be good starting places.

If you could add any details of the places in Wiesbaden John I'll add them to the list

Cheers for the info guys!

I'm staying at the Wallstreet Park Plaza hotel and apparently there's an Irish bar right beside it. The fact i'm Irish might get me some free crisps too!

The match is on Prem Plus though isn't it? Wonder if that will affect things...

They often get the Prem Plus games as well, although one of the pubs I mentioned above has had problems with that.

What they seem to do is have a Sky Account somewhere in the UK or Ireland and the Sky Box is 'unofficially' brought over to Germany (where all kinds of helpful characters are available to install the dish pointing in the right direction). Then the bill is paid through a UK/Ireland bank account. If/when some customer service call (such as setting up Prem plus) is required then someone back in the UK/Ireland has to do it - which sometimes involves some tricky phone juggling while on the phone to Sky and the pub in Germany.

All allegedly, of course ;)

To cut a long story short, it's worth phoning the place and asking them if they have the game.

Cheers chaps. The match is actually on regular Sky Sports, so should be no problem.

Off to Berlin now. Have a nice St.Paddy's day everyone!
