Let me tell you how they almost caused someone's death today!

 

I got a call at 2pm yesterday from a surgeon in Aberdeen. Could we provide a stent-graft for an emergency patient by 9am today, bearing in mind they are stored in Amsterdam. Our logistics called UPS, no can do, DHL, no can do, TNT---YES! We can DEFINITELY get them there by 9am! Surgeon relieved, patient will get his treatment. I fly up there this morning, get to Aberdeen Royal only to find no stent-grafts. The patient is on the table, pre-medded and everything. Called our office to be informed TNT were in the middle of a three-day strike! Why didn't anyone think to inform us of this? It was 11am last night they got the call from their union in the US (or so we're told) that they all come out on strike and our grafts are on a plane in Liege! Now no-one is more union-minded than me but there's a life at stake here and due to someone's negligence in not telling us, that was now in serious danger.

 

Negligence doesn't cover it, really, does it?
