On the off-chance that anyone can help me in this matter, I?d like to raise a few questions.

 

I?m one of those wannabe writers who tries to get published ? Anyway, I certainly registered in numerous forums and message boards - but that?s been less than useful so far. Most members just tend to discourage each other due to a massive rivalry.

 

The key issue is obviously how to approach this aim. As you are aware, there are lots of [Vanity Press] rip-offs (BOD, cost sharing, etc.) in this field and it is almost impossible to verify/check the offers and promises.

 

My main genre is satire (short stories). But finding a suitable publishing house is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Is it generally recommendable to use the service of an agent - if you get the chance? Aside from that, do you endanger your author?s rights if you put texts on a private homepage? (Just to get some impartial feedback.)

 

I?d really appreciate any information.
